Borla Exhaust for Kia Stinger

Downpipes/borla same drone problem. Did dyno mat whole trunk plus put on back of trunk insert. Helped a lot but still there a bit.

Ark with downpipes/midpipes sounds amazing, the only problem is the drone below 2000rpm. Going to sound deaded the trunk with dynamat, some closed cell foam, and mass loaded vinyl see if that helps.
Dynamatting the boot alone didn't achieve a drone free car for me. Maybe coupled with those other solutions you may have success.

Can you post back your findings. Ta.

Probably the only thing that would really quiet it down is to do some kind of coating on underside of car. Above muffler them self.

Ya I did all the inside already. Looking for something to put under car on floor pan above mufflers.

The dynamat should help with audible sheat metal vibrations caused by the exhaust, for sound proofing mass loaded vinyl is your best bet. I'll post my results here once i install everything.

Maybe do dynamat extreme with a layer of Dynaliner on top of it.
I bought the Dynaliner as back up im going to line the boot lid (Trunk lid). Ill be amazed if it does much.

Not sure how they say “no drone”. I had this installed on my car and within 24 hours had it removed it was so loud inside the cabin. Couldn’t even be on phone.

Totally agree.

Every aftermarket exhaust is generating varying levels of drone.

Some people don’t care, other dynomat, some add custom resonators or other components upstream. Helps “some”.

short of a unicorn setup yet to be found, it is just accepted.

EVCs let you tolerate it by essentially going to stock sound levels on demand.

If Borla or anyone says there is no drone, they are crack fiends.

Has anyone tried lining the bottom of the trunk cover? A lot of sound gets through that, I bet it would help to line that as well as the rest of the trunk.

Thats what I'm planning on doing this weekend, ling it with mass loaded vinyl.

I've lined everything back there in dynamat and dynaliner. But I don't have Borla exhaust so I can't attest to its drone eliminating capacity.

And???? Whatcha running and did your dyno-everything help dramatically?

Like 0 = no drone
10 = bee hive in you head

I'm sure you've already said this in here somewhere, but what exhaust are you running and do you have drone?

I have thermal with ssr midpipes.

I don't have drone. I did the trunk and doors specifically for additional sound deadening. I was on the verge of trading my car in for an A6 so I spent some money to make the interior a little nicer. I also added more ambient lighting, modded the speaker grills in the doors, and added a woofer. Basically just scratching an itch.

How bad was the drone before the deadening?

It never droned. Thermal, Magnaflow, and (probably) Stillen don't drone. But they provide a fraction of the sound that Borla does.
