Extremely sketchy handling when wet

I've got the summer tires and I've taken thing thing over strait ice and snow with them and I've never experienced anything like what's being described. Awd gt1 here so maybe that helps keep the car strait but it could be the ruts on the freeways you drive along with the wheelbase of the car (same as a new camero) it can right the ruts hard if your freeway is garbo.
There is a stretch of I70 on my way to work where those “cuts or ruts” in the road are spaced just right that this car develops a rhythm as I go over them. When I’m in sport I wonder if the other cars notice my little bounce that I’m dealing with. I’ve developed the habit of switching to smart and leaving it there as I finish my drive into downtown.

my rwd does the same. I can get the rear end to kick out on turns no problem, but if I try to do a doughnut it'll cut power. Haven't tried drifting. I know these cars CAN drift, I've seen enough videos, so I'm pretty lost on how the traction control works and when it kicks in even when it's off.
I bet the drifters know how pull the connected fuses.

Sounds like your bald tires are causing an initial lack of traction due to hydroplaning. Then, I suspect your traction control is trying to take over by applying braking and or reducing power to the wheels without traction. You could turn TC off, but then it might be even worse and you could suffer complete loss of control instead of a wiggle or some wandering. Get the new tires, along with a comprehensive alignment. Hopefully, that fixes it.
Good luck.

Alright, picking up the Stinger tonight. Apparently the alignment is perfect. Which still boggles my mind as to why I burned up a set of back tires only. Another $600 I didn't want to spend lol.

I'm going to take her into a performance shop soon and get a second opinion on the alignment

My back tires are balding in the center and its awd I have to assume that the tires spin a little when I'm a bit whiskey n the throttle

Increased tread wear in the center of a tire indicates a prolonged overinflated condition of the tire. Similarly, were the wear on both of the outside edges, it would indicate a prolonged underinflated condition of the tire.

I agree and that's the thing that bothers me!!! I'm following kia specifications and I have over inflation probs (I suspected thus would happen all along btw) and the dealer tells me it's normal hahaha so what psi do you recommend for tires all around (factory 37 front 39 rear)

What kind of tires are u running?

And what are you filling them to now?

Sorry if posted above. I’m a lazy fk.

I still rock stock* specs on inflation and I use strait air from my compressor and have the dealer make sure it's perfect whenever I go in. I have the factory Michelle pilot sport 4

I ask so you type what you think stock is.

38 psi F. 36 psi R For staggered 19”

NOT 39 rear (only for 18” square all seasons).

39 rear explains your over inflation.

God dang it the dealer must have miss information.... those numbers make more sense to me... I'll tell them the folly of their ways next visit lol and thank you for correcting my blunder

Here are shots of my tires. Exact mileage is 5,457 at the time of drop off. If I have to invest $600 every 3 months I gotta sell this thing.

I probably had a thousand miles or so before I really was down to nothing, but I'd rather not risk it in the winter time. I was also seeing a massive degradation in ride quality and handling in inclement weather.

What is the manufacturer warranty on those tires?

Michelin stated 30,000 miles. I'm a bit under that as you can see
Not sure how tire warranties work with regard to vehicle mods but it may be well worth checking out. Sorry, but I’m not sure if these are the original or after-market tires you put on.

The warranty is halved if they are not rotated, which we can't do on a staggered setup.

That said, they would only have delivered ~40% of warranted mileage, so a new set should be adjusted accordingly. I recently discovered that with my last change on a vehicle, so instead of ~$900, a new set cost me around $200.

These are the factory tires, right off the lot!

If you take it to an authorized Michelin dealer, they should be able to take care of it for you.

I use Costco. FWIW, the one in Woodstock is VERY much under-utilized, no line, no waiting, unlike every other one in town.

Yep, same exact tires I have sitting on my shed shelves right now. Mine look like this at 10K miles:
DSC07442.webp DSC07443.webp
You can clearly tell which is the front and rear tread. Your rear tires look about twice as worn down as mine in c. half the miles.

A local guy @Gordo replaced his pilot summer rears at c. 7K miles. So we have a spectrum here. My summers look like the rears will make another c. 5K miles before they start to look like yours: so about the warranty life of staggered setups, or 15K miles.

How much modifications play into this is a good question. I have no mods on the 10K miles the summers have done. Recently I added the Eibach rear sway bar. That's it. Sway bars don't in any way alter the way the tires sit vis-a-vis camber; so I would expect tire wear to be the same; except for the other factor: the driving style differences. I am a conservative driver who likes to go fast for very brief periods, "maneuvering" through traffic "situations". :p I also like to seize opportunities to test the cornering ability of my Stinger (and now I have double motivation to test, with the upgraded rear sway bar). Heavier footed drivers than I are going to be putting a lot more wear on their tires. Only you can answer the double question: how much of the wear on your tires is because of the way your car is set up, and how you drive it?
