Car battery dead, car locked. How do you get in??

"..inadvertently locked in the luggage compartment...." Love it, Thanks
Better than the Ram truck side bed storage lockers. They too now have to have an emergency release. Like what, only an infant would be small enough to fit in one, and wouldn’t possess the capacity to ever know what to do.

Having been in a battery replacement job awhile back, I have no misconceptions of the oem battery, Reminds me of the ''volkswagon'' type, lol. But unless there is a mfg, defect the battery should last a good number of years, barring extreme temps for prolonged periods of time.

But while they work, they really work well; they are a race spec/tech; Kia did not cheap out on the Stinger's battery. (blanking on the name for the type of battery, dang...)

Let us know if you think of more details. I looked at it and love how it lives in the rear boot, and the darned thing is HUGE! I was wondering why this car had such a huge battery...

OMG thank you for that video Joseph!!! I was actually trying to pry the unlock button on the door handle, not the piece on the right of it!

Now I'm wondering if I should call the roadside assist back and ask them to just change it to a roadside jumpstart instead...But I'm worried as to why the battery died (all the doors are properly closed, I know I didn't leave any interior lights on either), and if I should still have it towed to the dealership to have it inspected?

What year is your Stinger? Been having issues with battery dying constantly.

I wouldn't do that with the battery completely discharged, as you risk damage to the car's electronics.

How would connecting another 12v battery in parallel damage anything? As long as you don't do it in series you should be fine.

Uhhhh, what was that about?

Probably the OP's attempt to blame the sale guy for not telling him how to get in when the remote entry doesn't work.

So, yeah, take a little responsibility and read the freaking manual instead of looking to blame others for your laziness.

While I am a big advocate of reading the manual first thing you do, the salesman or saleswoman should definitely show the main features of the car including how to access the car if the battery of either the car or fob is dead. I’ve seen people ask where the “unlock” button on the car is.

Exactly. This is a repeating theme on this forum and it is getting ridiculous. What kind of adult expects their dealership sales guy to babysit them like that?

I had my battery tested for the start stop on my car was not working. I was told that my battery is running at 50%. I was told that it is not good and that it is not bad. I have my car for six months. I had it checked at my oil change and asked for the battery to be checked and it was 60%. Do I need to get a new battery? I was told that I didn’t need one.

Not yet. Unless you really, dearly, want your ISG to work most of the time. As long as the engine starts without any delay or effort, I say that the battery is good to go.

How often and how far do you drive?

do you have a dash cam that stays on (even for x hours)?

lot of factors.

had a flat battery today, not sure what it was, car stood for 7 days but still didnt expect that from a 2019 model, I suspect the dashcam maybe but it has an auto shutoff feature which is enabled so not really sure what caused it. I certainly didnt look for the owners manual, I just googled "flat battery unlock door" and it came to this post, watched the youtube video plus another one video after that. Got into the car with the hidden key and slot in the door handle. Used a portable jump starter in the bonnet to get enough power to the car to open the trunk, then connected directly from my other car to the battery. It was useful to have the battery in the back as I had no access to the front of the car anyways. Now to figure out what really caused it

^^^^^ and when you find out please post here about it. I’m leaning towards a “gel” type battery when the time comes.
