I don't have one to look at, but is the design such that if water continues to collect in that housing (say during an intense or extended rain event) it will reach the level of the filter media, and saturate the filter through capillary 'wicking'?

I don’t think so. But if I take this off roading and do a jump, it might splash the filter....

Wow wtf to say the least just watched your video and you could literally put a goldfish at the bottom and he would live ... that’s a lot of water lol your filter even looked wet like it was sucking water .... that’s no good man I know you are being a good sport and not freaking out but I am defenetely going to open my everytime it rains and look for that ... that’s sucks man ... I wonder if you suck enough water ot can cause issues ..

You couldn't. All tests I have seen your filter basically has to be submerged to cause any problems...

I also get 0 water in mine... I have checked them a few times after rainy days and never notice any at all.

Well, I guess you can pay for any damage in case it hydrolocks... because you stayed at a holiday in and now you my friend are an Internet “expert”. Lol.

If yours doesn’t do that in the rain, then if course YOU wouldn’t be concerned.

As I’ve stated about 3 times now, it isn’t the end of the world, I’ll drill a god damn hole. But sitting water in an engine bay isn’t something the manufacturer would recomend.

I would defenetely drill the hole asap or get a different intake like injen .... but if mine does that shit I am selling them .... and going back to my DIY lol ...

First off, the filters don't sit in the bottom of the cover. I think everyone is forgetting that kn, injen, diy.. all except JT have an exposed filter. Rain water always gets in the engine bay when it rains, so it isn't hurting the car. You will 100% not hydrolock for that tiny bit sitting in the bottom. I'm telling you from experience. We tried to blow up a car this way. Literally spraying a hose at an exposed filter, while revving the shit out of it for 10 minutes.

I wash the shit out of my car and haven't seen water collect there but maybe I'm lucky and other drips away from the shield. But I do agree it's trivial and dremeling a hole is a simple resolution.

The amount of water that leaks into the air filter area is not enough to hydrolock an engine, you'll need lots more than that. More importantly is how this water will affect the filter media, I know the filters are designed to be washed and reused, however with water getting in every time it rains or the car is washed you have that dirty water dripping onto the filter, also I don't know if these filter are dry filters or oiled, if they are oiled then the service interval should be shortened.

Sorry if you interpreted my response as rude, etc... but I would be just as concerned as you honestly. If I paid for a product that I had to modify to avoid standing water I'd be pissed. I don't care if it causes a problem or not, there shouldn't be standing water in your intake. I do doubt that the water will come in contact with your filter so I don't have a mechanical concern, but still, there shouldn't be standing water.

I will be honest when I seen the water my first reaction was I laughed and said “holy shit it’s a baby puddle of water on there” then I became concerned because I have the same intake and I have not cared to open the hood and look for that at all ... now that it was brought up, it helped me be aware of the potential issue...
