Issue with launch control

About a week ago I was attempting a 0 to 60 with launch control.
The car built up load I let go of the brake and she fell flat on her face. So I tried again and all was well. Then today I admittedly tried launch control in less than ideal conditions. Car squirmed, lil spin and flat on its face. So I picked a better stretch of road and ditto. Spin then no power. Anyone come across this or have a clue as to what it might be?

I haven't tried it yet. Going to wait until end of April. I'll have my summer tires on and the weather should cooperate.

LC in any mode or situation other than absolutely set up as instructed, will disappoint. Sport/Custom (with engine/trans set to Sport); traction/stability OFF; push and hold brake; press accelerator swiftly all the way down to c. 2500 RPM (give or take) and let go of brake. If you hold it longer than four seconds max (and possibly less vehicle to vehicle) LC will disengage or partially engage and "fall flat on its face" as you put it.

I've only used LC 3 times since I've owned the car. First time: I muffed it. Think I tried to launch too soon (premature launchulation) Second and 3rd time, she launched as advertised. Generally, I 'launch' the old fashioned way - with my cat-like reflexes! I'm sure I'll be doing it again, but I refrain to avoid unnecessary wear/tear on the car. My 2 cents.

I have had it happen before. No clue why. Scared the shit out of me.

Has to be something to do with the nannies. The wrong situation and they kill everything.

Real close, but not quite... Here's how you launch the car, though mine is a GT2 AWD and it may be slightly different on the GT/GT1 or RWD variants...

1. Pick a straight stretch of flat road, no gravel etc.
2. Press and hold traction control to turn it off, but KEEP IT HELD DOWN, a second message will pop up and say something like ASC Disabled. (around 5 - 7 seconds)
3. Drive mode into "Sport Mode".
4. FIRMLY press the brake pedal down.
5. FLOOR the gas, all the way... hit the carpet. You will see a message on the screen that says "Launch Control Active". RPM's will build and hold steady.
6. Count, 3... 2... 1... drop the brake.
7. Poof, you are off!

The only piece you missed was flooring the gas with the brake down. Also possibly fully disabling the the traction control. That would explain the "fell on it's face" by either A) not fully engaging the launch control or B) not fully disabling the traction nannies.

As for the wear and tear on the car, aside from the tires and the clutch plate in the tranny, these cars like to be revved out once in a while to "clear the pipes". That being said, mine's a lease, so it goes back at the end anyway.

Disclaimer: be safe when doing this. Disabling the traction control systems disables the stability control and collision avoidance systems. You really will be on your own out there with a machine that wants to kill you. BE SAFE.

Oil, coolant, and with its in desire... mine launches lol. When it doesn’t it’s 80% due to something not up to temp and 20% an absolute loss of traction and the nannies keep me from killing a tire or two.

Ah, that's a good detail to emphasize. Of course I meant that, but spelling it out like this is better. (It's good to point out that you can disable both at any time in any circumstances; and that once disabled, traction control and stability control do not come back on until you either turn the engine off and back on; or push the Traction/Stability control button again.)

The first weekend I took mine to the strip, I forgot to put it into sport mode and assumed I was using LC when in fact I was not. I experienced the same thing on a couple of runs as a result.

Are you certain you actually had everything set and the launch control was active, as confirmed by the prompts on the display? Holding on the brake and applying throttle will not give you much of launch otherwise.

roads are shit atm. So I'm gonna hold off trying until I can get some traction. I suspect that I launched early, traction and stability flashed and I dropped the hammer launch control active flashed as I was in motion. That or it's an issue when I spin as I did both times.

If the oil temp is below 200 mine will bog every time and on some occasions when it is 200 but not often. I've heard several say the bog after spinning the tires as well but have never had that yet.

turned out to be a spin nanny. When she spins I'm guessing rpm limiter she cuts throttle. When she doesn't

only did a couple, roads are still sketchy. I tried 1st time she spun and cut. I just smiled, knew I cleaned em up and threw a lil heat in them. 2nd try good pull.

I wish there was a way to kill those nannies... seems ridiculous. If I spin I pull 4.9s if I don’t I can get 4.0-4.2’s.
