I'm the OG with a 1 owner 1979 Mazda RX-7 and I ride a 2007 Honda Shadow VT-1100 MC in the Reno/Sparks, NV area, just down the "hill" from Lake Tahoe.
Old Guy! Original, and still owner of my '79 Mazda RX-7 could be a clue. Lovin' my Stinger though! ReBadged!OG? "Old Guy"? "Old Goat"? "Odd gaffer"? "Ornery geriatrician"? The list of possibilities goes on ...
Welcome! (You're new to me.)
Lol. Does it always take you this long to respond to a question?Old Guys get like that, sometimes.

Spork? Sports fan and Dork? Me too!
Just saw your thread/posts. A 1979 RX-7!?! Still driving it? Sweet! My first new car - about 6 months after I graduated from college - was a 1982 RX-7 S - the base model. Man, I saved and scraped to buy that thing. It was a demo with a couple K on it. I think I paid $9500. A true sports car: RWD, 2-seater, 50-50 balance, a 5-speed manual. That Wankel was only about 110 hp, but redline started about 8000rpm and it only weighed, what, 2700 lbs. What a blast! That was back before kids and mortgages and the purgatory of minivans and SUV's. I've thought a lot more about that car since I bought the Stinger. I'm still trying to decide which of the two was/is most fun. What do you think?Yah, I know. I was just having fun with the word. I suspect most people who own Stingers are probably techies. That's where the "Dork" came from. They don't put a sharp edge on it so we don't hurt ourselves on the knispork.
I owned my RX7 Since it was new. Ordered it on Aug. 1, 1978 with $1000 down. I took delivery 12/08/1978. Total cost was $9000. It was a unique color called Daytona Blue which was only produced through Jan 1979 when they started making what they called '79 1/2's. The first ones released in the US were carbureted 12-A engines but the hood support was still on the Japanese side of the hood, on the right instead of the left. I still own it but it isn't quite roadworthy yet. I put in a street ported 12-A last summer, its 3rd engine, but still need to make some major adjustments to fluids, carb and timing. It sat in my garage for 12 years so all fluids were, and some still are, about 13+ years old. Hopefully roadworthy by summer. I also owned a Velocity Red 2004 RX8 6-speed 1.3L 238hp RWD. A huge jump from the 7. I loved both of those cars for their handling. They both had 50:50 weight dist. while our GT2's are 51.9:48.1. I went through the van years like you but was always able to keep the 7 as my daily driver. They've all been a blast to drive but I really appreciate power of the 3.3L 365hp Twin Turbo plus all of the technology in the Stinger. I'm kind of a nerd that way for an OG.Just saw your thread/posts. A 1979 RX-7!?! Still driving it? Sweet!
