AWD In Snow?

The fact that the stinger is an all wheel drive sedan is one of the MAIN factors that attracted me to buying it. I looked and was patient for a long time for an affordable, Stylish, powerful, and feature packed sedan. I thought I was going to have to go with a Q50. Never thought I'd find one that was affordable until the stinger came along.

So my question is.. Has anyone got the chance to drive an awd model in snowy conditions yet? Hows it handle through snow and ice? and is it seriously worth using as a daily driver, especially in Canada. I deal with snow and ice for sometimes 6 months of the year. If the awd system is garbage then I'd be disappointed..as the stinger just wouldn't be worth it for me if it's the case.

I drove up Cyprus Bowl here a week ago and around the city yesterday and today after 15cm of snow , works great , BUT get proper tires !!!

Definitely! Even with awd winter tires are super important. Glad to hear it had no issues cutting through 15cm of snow. I would expect it not to lol.

I've put a few tire vids , reviews in the tire section on this Forum, check them out . Here in
Vancouver , really good A/S tires work really well , we go the Whistler regularly although I would say the low ground clearance would not work well in deeper snow

Definitely will check those out tomorrow. I live on the eastern coast of Canada, Newfoundland. Hasn't been to snowy yet but I'm lookin forward to trading in my fwd optima. When it snows here the roads are terribly plowed for long after a storm.

IMHO you want to go look at Sorento , not Stinger . !

No , I took the stock tires off and bought a staggered set Ultra High Perf A/S

Just drove through a minor snow storm. Highway lane markings weren't visible and it was accumulating relatively quickly. I felt in control the entire time thanks to the AWD and a good set of snow tires.

It didn't work very well, but I myself couldn't really see the lanes, and the radar was blocked from the snow too!

That's my expectation. If a human can't see the lines, the cameras/sensors won't be able to make heads or tails out of it either. That makes me wonder about the display itself. I think that, if either of the white side lines aren't appearing (dash or HUD) that it can't sense that lane border. More to see when I got the chance. I'll get to try the all-seasons in snow, too. I'm hoping to use those through at least two winters.

This is how it works in the new compass I bought. The display tells you if it can see both the left and right lines, if not, it doesn't work.

It's almost 2018 and we don't have traffic lights that can see if there's no traffic coming from the other side - and turn green so you don't have to sit at the red light for 34 minutes waiting for it to change...

They also don't have GPS set to detect lines in the street. If they did, the car would be able to track along whether the road was covered with snow or not...

If I remember from my skim of the manual today, white lines means its activated but you are either below a certain speed or it can't see the lines and green means you are above the minimum speed required and it can see the lines.
