I just got stationed over in Germany as a US DOD civilian and got my Stinger GT2 here in October. I am in the southwestern portion of Germany at Ramstein AFB. Anyway, the Germans love the Stinger and keep eyeballing me everywhere I go. I can tell a lot of them have never seen one before and I have had several ask me about it. On the Autobahn I can compete with any of the "big boys" like Audi, BMW, Mecedes, and Porsche - at least at speeds I am comfortable with. Speaking of which, I was driving the other day in a no speed limit zone and got her up to 131 MPH. I maintained that speed for maybe 30 seconds before I decided to bring it down to safer speeds of closer to 110-ish MPH, which is where I feel most comfortable. The Stinger was driving great at those speeds and I could tell it had plenty of power left behind it to go much faster. Question my manliness, but I don't know that I will ever get it up to 167 MPH - we'll see; I've only been here a few months.

Oh...I already got a speeding ticket that is going to cost me 265 Euro and suspend my license for a month. I'm pretty bummed about that. I was going 80 MPH (130 KPH) in a 50 MPH (80 KPH) zone. That area is normally 80 MPH and had some recent construction I wasn't paying attention to and I got caught by an unmarked Polizei in a black BMW. The whole thing was weird. The cops flashed me and took a pic behind me and turned on their sirens. They then cut in front of me and turned on a sign that said in German "Please follow, thanks". I followed them for a couple of miles to a turnout of the Autobahn and they explained everything and gave me a ticket then. Now I REALLY watch my speeds. My next offense could lead to a couple of month suspension, or even the loss of my license for a year!

At least they were nice about it. Did they want to know about the Stinger or just to give you the ticket?

They just gave me the ticket. They were so polite and smiling the entire time. They were so nice that I kind of thought I might get out of it. No such luck. HA!

You will never get out of a ticket from the Germans. I was at Spangdahlem for two years and I dont know of anyone who was pulled over and not ticketed. Enjoy the autobahn! I drove it to and from work every day. I lived in a little town called Fleissem (right down from Bitburg AB)

We've not explored up that way yet. I have a bud who is up there, so we should soon.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
rob, first off nice speeding ticket you got there ;) anyway one Little tip. You can drive 20kph over the Limit everywhere all the time. It will cost you ~20€. No one will ever say anything.(I earn 2 of those every month ) I gets painfull above 21+ kph. We as Germans earn 1 Point. I think with the "new" law we lose our licence with 7 Points ( than we basicly have to re do the licene, if I'm correct). you probably get, idk ~ 50€ exponentially rising depending on the Speed and you will loose you licence imediatly, as you experianced :(

Drive savely and don't try to batte dark Audi's, BMW an Vw Passats, those are mostly Company cars. They lead the daily batte on the Autobahn  going as fast as they can whenever there is no Speed Limit.

I stayed in the right lane when I was on the autobahn. Even with the Stinger that's where I would stay.

Thanks for the tips! I try not to battle any cars really. I usually see them coming up fast in my rearview and punch it up to pass the car on my car and get out of their way. Either way it has been a lot of fun being able to open it up on the autobahn. :D

So did the polizi ask you in their german accent "so are your papers in order" :) Wash
