question for the turbo gorus... who has bought and installed the ultimate performance intercooler ? They sell a 3 inch cold side piping ... does the cold side piping really help flow? Will it cause any lag? Will doing the doing the cold side piping larger help ? What is the advantage and disadvantage..

I installed the JT intercooler and piping. It's gigantic. I haven't noticed any additional lag.
There's certainly a theoretical issue - there's more volume to fill before the engine sees the pressure - but I suspect that in real world usage it's negligible. The larger piping will let it breathe easier, so future higher HP targets are possible.
Strictly necessary? No. But I think the stock tube and merge pipe are stupid ugly, so any excuse to replace them works for me.

@Angel I think the only real gains are from doing the cold side piping without it you will see minimal improvement, but im not 100% on that. When I do order one it will 100% be with the cold side piping.

Are you getting anxious like I am lol. Im ready to say F it and pull the trigger on UP. Hopefully Nick gets his hands on the Agency one ASAP so we can make a decision.

Lol bro hell yeah im anxious im with you I’m about to say F this I am pulling the trigger as well but I will give Nick a little time to see what he comes back with....I am debating if the cold side it’s worth the extra $250 ... I know it looks good but is the $250 justifiable in terms of performance .... my question will cold side piping make a difference at all performance wise .... I do know the throttle body is 3 inches which is cool the made the piping match that diameter ... do not purchase the intercooler yet please if you are message me before you do I will pm you my number so we can buy together and hopefully get a discount ....

I have UP fmic without the cold pipe. I called UP and they said they tested all the piping and only the cold side added power. How much, not sure.
IC outlet is 3 inch and you have to compress the air a bit to get through the 2.5 cold pipe which would heat the air up some.
Install the fmic first and test then add the 3 inch pipe and test for the good of the community. :)

Men that’s a lot of work thou... lol how the hell will I test that ..... I am getting the cold side ... I spoke the Matt over at UP and he said that on a stock car it not much of a difference but on a modded car with higher cost it helps ... how much I didn’t get that answer lol ... I been reading about larger IC piping and I get meixed reviews ....so not sure if I would need the IC piping but it dawn sure looks good thou ... did you notice a difference once you did IC

My concern is lag and trottle response being affected with the larger ic piping ?? ANY thoughts tonka??

They have to measure the drop across both sizes of pipe.. sometimes bigger is not better, but i'd imagine in this case it is considering the potential of these turbos.

Not any more work to test sepearate. Pull the nose and put on the ic. Put nose back on leave belly pan off. Test. Put cold pipe on. Have to ramp or jack it twice is all and connect one hose.
My ic only did .07 0-60 on limited testing so cold pipe might need a full 1/4 to measure. (If i account for diff gas levels prob .08.)

I don’t have draggy so not sure how I can get data on it but I can get logs on jb4 and if there differences with cold pipe and no cold pipe .... if I had the money I would love to do dyno testing and stuff .... but I am assuming it will help ...I am just trying to justify the extra 250 dollars for it lol ... that’s intake money right there

Intake will certainly give you more power. Do fmic and intake and add the cold pipe a few months down the road, when the mod spending guilt goes away.
Obd fusion app seems consistent for timings even though its not accurate. Free app you can use with a $10 wireless obd dongle.
Only thing you would see in logs is a cooler intake temp but wont know how much it made you faster.

I have DIY intakes already lol ... but I want to get actual quality intakes like the ones from Agency power ..... I am not sure if UP will the ic piping separately it will also probably be more expensive .... he lol my questions would it my 1/4 time .... does anyone know if launch control helps 1/4 times ??

I think 1/4 times depend on what tuning. I think piggybacks doesnt effect Launch control at least what i can recall. Maybe they fixed that.

Of course launch control helps 1/4 mile times! That is, if you can get traction.

I thought I read that piggybacks dont affect launch control/ make any changes, but i could be off. If I am i never got to do a launch control with the jb4... I just manually launched it and it worked well. Probably should ask in the Burger tuning forum so we dont muddy this one up.

Well you know I am going to fix .... need that intercooler to reduce those IAT .....wonder if this will help the jb4 on map 3.... history will be made in 3 hours...... i am so anxious to get off work lol

UP definately sells the cold pipe seperately. But if you have diy intake already then i change my vote to getting the cold pipe first.
I did 4 runs testing LC vs AH (autohold) on my AWD. LC was a whopping .03 faster both times. Almost nothing but something.
