Dealer Paint Protection Option

Prices vary widely as does the quality and warranty. I got mine done at X-Pel so I know it's done right. Warranty for 10 years. I can go to any authorized dealer for warranty issues. The prices I quote may not be the cheapest but then again, I don't want the cheapest quality either.

Additionally, to do the application correctly, it is very labor intensive. It took 15 hours of steady labor to apply Xpel Ultimate to my entire front end. Labor, plus materials and overhead adds up to real money.

They quoted me 3 days for paint correction, suntek, and ceramic coating and some $3200. But it’s feeling a little too expesneive for me

Full frontal only? Is that like seeing the Stinger wearing assless chaps??:laugh:

Sorry Merlin, couldn't resist, LOL.
I kind of feel that way. It's what tempts me to go all the way and PPF everything. :D

I have 3M. So not a ten year warranty. Five, I believe. If you pick the right shop, this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for". Heh, the opposite is also true: if you pick the cheaper shop, you get what you pay for; less. So far, I am very happy with my PPF. It's like armor. It saved the rear edge of my hood when a maroon lifted my wiper to clean the windshield in OR last summer; and I have only noticed a single miniscule nick in the PPF over the left fender in all this time. The PPF seems to "absorb" the initial damage for a while, but it doesn't go entirely away: so, not "self healing"; that's the more expensive (ten year?) stuff, I guess.

I'm debating getting a ceramic coating over the entire car instead though.

I'd recommend the ceramic if you can only pick one. I did my whole car, including over the front PPF and love it. The car is easy to clean and the ceramic adds to the gloss.

Can you let me know how much you paid? I've gotten a couple of quotes already. One from a local detailer and one from a local shop. The detailer's pricing is $500 (foam bath, iron spray decontamination, clay bar treatment and paint correction followed by 3 layers of CQuartz Ceramic Coating). Includes all painted surfaces and trim. Glass and wheels are $150 extra
The pro shop ranges in price from $1200-$2000 dependent on level (2yr - 4yr warranty).

Wow, $500 looks like a great price. Have you seen any of the cars they've done? I paid $900 for mine :(, but I worked through a garage I trust and did not shop around. Tires were $100. In the future, I plan on recoating myself.

I asked for pics of previous work. He sent me pics and vids. He seems like he's very experienced. He told me the warranty would be for 2 years. He did say he need the car for a 1.5 days to complete and make sure it curre properly. Obviously $650 (entire car including glass and rims) is extremely reasonable compared to the big shop price ($1600). I guess it just comes down to whether I believe there will be that big a difference in quality of work.

I was looking at the same. @everyone it's Kia's Paint protection package not dealers. You can see it in build.

It’s PPF (film) covers like bottom 6” of hood and bumper. I finally saw a couple with it installed at the dealer the other day.

Oh, of course. I have seen this recently on a MY19. The hood back a ways behind the Kia badge is covered. Front bumper covered. But the ridges below the brake vents are exposed. Hmm!? When I had my PPF put on, the original install left "wedges" of exposed area directly below the brade vents: the ridges were covered. Now, the ridges are a much smaller area than my wedges. But I had the PPF installer come back and insert separate pieces of PPF into the wedge shaped areas. I am fully covered. I suppose that separate ridge pieces could be put on the factory PPF kit install. They would even be less visible than my separate wedge shaped pieces are.

Xpel has a corporate install center?? Makes it a no brianer for me
Yup, got mine done at the X-Pel shop in San Antonio while I was in town for Thanksgiving.

X-PEL pricing includes professional installation.

All the quotes I got were much higher than what was on the website. Looking through the website again, I found out it says "The pricing displayed is suggested MSRP, without installation.".

These things are expensive.
