What button controls the engine stop start system for when car reaches a stop during driving to stop engine?
I can try to answer this one. The auto start/stop is
always active unless deactivated by the driver. The deactivation button is on the center console, right next to the heated/cool
seat.
Basically, in 'D', after the car has been moving and come to a complete stop and your foot is still on the break paddle - the engine stops automatically. Once you lift your foot off the break paddle, the engine starts again.
From my brief experience with my Stinger, the time between lifting my foot off the break paddle to acceleration has been quite 'immediate' - I did not drive aggressively so far, so for me, under 'normal' driving situations with stop and go traffic, the auto start-stop does not seem to make the car feel 'jerky.' Jerky as in sometimes when you lift off the break there's a brief delay before the engine fully started and ready to go, but when an engine is slow to start but you already pressed the accelerator paddle some cars jerk off the line. This is what I remember from a 2012 Audi A3, and a 2014 VW Sharan. But then, if you like driving fast and want the car to be as responsive as possible then you would disable the feather anyway. If I remember correctly, some cars automatically disable the auto start/stop in sporty driving modes - the Stinger does not do that.
Another question with auto start/stop is how long the engine stays off before kicking back on again. If I have to make a rough estimate, probably a minute or two, this should be sufficient at most traffic lights. All the electronic stays on, I guess it would kick back on if the car feels it needs to charge the battery.
