I think the Stinger will be my last car

My last daily driver that's all gas anyway. I figure I'll have this one for around 5-6 years and by then we'll have some reasonable competition in the market for performance electric/hybrids that will drive the cost down. My dream car would be something similar in specs to the Stinger, except as a plug in hybrid with somewhere around a 40-50 mile all electric range to take care of that daily slog in stop and go traffic every morning and afternoon. I've been a petrol head all my life but I recognize electric cars are the future, and honestly the world and environment will be better for it, but I still want the option to put my foot all the way down and hear the roar of combustion around me. A 365 hp tt v6 with 100 hp & 150 lb/ft worth of electronic wizardry? Yes please.

Kia/Hyundai have been doing a lot of electric cars in the last couple years, maybe they'll start offering performance hybrids/electric like Tesla at half the price sometime.

I want like to be driving a 1969 fast back mustang GT500 with a swap Tesla performance Battery Engine and not gasoline....OK for the serious side I think Tesla will be the best option since they are the main electric car company.

A LAFerrari. But if I still have this car and it is still working as well for me as it is now and my care for it results in it being just as pretty as it is now, then I will be satisfied with my MY18 GT1; it may have different paint or a wrap by then, but why would I want anything more? It already does everything I want a high performance GT to do: hopefully the downloads will keep the electronics up to date, and possibly even improved.

Electric cars are going to come equipped with "engine noise" for the die hard ICE drivers. From inside the cabin nobody will be able to tell the difference: there will even be virtual shifting points to perfect the illusion. Someplace soon will outlaw ICE entirely, probably in Europe's more socialist corners, once the range of electrics has improved to the same level of convenience as ICE. The US will be the last holdout, as in so many other things.

I'm 80, most likely will have a hot electric wheel chair, bigger wheels in the back and small in front. Also, summer tires. I don't believe that, still will be playing Pickleball 5 days per week. All electric cars will not be worthwhile until they get 300-400 mile range and super quick recharge like today's gas stations. Otherwise, would have to have two cars, one for local and one for travel. Maybe hybreads.

that's more feasible than you think, if you search on youtube you'll find a guy that took an Audi S5 and swapped in the full P100D battery pack.

Of course if you did that to a 69' GT500 one of those Mustang guys might suffocate you in your sleep lol

Yeah I don't think we'll be there in 5 years, that's why I'm hoping for a good performance plug in hybrid option. All electric for the daily commute, gas for trips and sporty driving. I want the best of both worlds!

their "greenness" is relative. They're a lot more green than ICE cars. Even the worst power plants (coal fired steam plants) are more energy efficient and produce lower emissions than the most efficient ICE car. This isn't even taking into account the amount of energy it takes to simply refine gasoline which by itself is almost equal to the amount of energy to power an electric car to start with.

It's shocking to me how so many people fail to understand the global environmental impacts of internal combustion engines. Electric is not perfect, but man they're so much cleaner it isn't even funny, and that's with the existing reliance on fossil fuels for power generation. As we progress toward cleaner energy, electric cars get that much greener. Bonus points if you have a solar cell system on your house.

right, that's the point I was trying to make. Nothing humans make come without any environmental impact, it's all about minimizing it. As I said, the carbon footprint of an EV, even if it's getting its electricity from a coal fired steam plant, is going to be a lot lower than the most efficient ICE. The least efficient and dirtiest power plants (with US regulations anyway) are still greener than ICE vehicles when you're look at equal power generation.

Lithium batteries can be recycled, it's just an issue of it being economically feasible. It's probably a program government's need to run, regardless there are solutions to the lithium battery waste issue.

Agreed. I can’t cite it off hand, but I recall reading about a study a couple of years ago – by a university in Sweden, I’m pretty sure – that all-in the average electric car is LESS green than the average ICE car. As I recall, it was the re-charge energy over the life of the car, along with the energy to re-cycle the batteries that put it over the top.

That said, I’ll probably check out electrics in the future – I’m sure the tech and the range will improve. But… I love me some internal combustion! The rumble of the engine; the smell of the gasoline! Heck, a cup of the stuff will send a 4000 lb Stinger a mile down the highway at 80 mph! To paraphrase Ben Franklin: “Gasoline is proof that God loves us and wants us to drive fast.”

Anyway, back on topic… In 2025 I hope to be driving the 3rd gen Stinger GT with the 600 HP 5.5L TT V8!
