G'day all,

this may need to be in the engine/drivetrain thread so change if need be.

I'm in Newcastle Australia.

So Ive lost a huge amount of torque. Definitely getting no or very little boost. Still quick but no punch when I put my foot down.
So i had a look myself in case it was just a loose hose and found the passenger side intercooler charge side hose moved a bit. It's a cicrclip type clamp and different to all other. Ducked into Kia and they said it wasn't right and ordered a new part taking six weeks to get in, so I took it home and A mate in Perth checked his out and that is how it should be so it seems Kia techs are quite clueless with the stinger so far.
anybody had this happen? I can't find any loose hoses. I had the bottom plastic off this arv and put it on jacks to inspect. I removed the circlip type clamp from the I/c charge side, inspected and lubed the seals and replaced but still nothing.

I've got three thoughts.
1) electrical prob somewhere but I ran my diagnostic computer and found no codes.
2) wastegate is stuck open.
3) siezed turbo.

Please help. My next step is To leave it with Kia, but it seems that anything they do will be winging it as they've obviously had no training on these cards as they claim at the service centre. If it's not an oil change, it's beyond them. Apologies to the Kia techs that do know there shit, but my dealer wouldn't even see me for weeks and no car to get me to and from work in the process.

Love the car though. Still no complaints except above.

Cheers,
D

G’day mate, welcome aboard. Sorry can’t answer your questions, but I’m curious which dealership in Newcastle did you get your Stinger from? I got mine at Cardiff Kia. Would be good to know if it’s the same service department in case I have issues.

What type/colour Stinger did you get? I’ll have to keep an eye out when I’m driving around Newy.

Also can you add your general location to your profile thanks.

G’day mate. Welcome to the forums.

You got some more info? How long have you had the car.? How many k’s etc

G'day guys, I'm. In Raymond terrace. I wanted the yellow so I had a company pouch the last one in Aus at that time and it was trucked from mealbourne. I first went to Maitland Kia for my first service but never again. I told them about the paint problems before Kia admitted to it and they blamed me. Newcastle service are great and have helped me greatly.
I'm keen on having a nova get together around Chrissy. I'm on the stinger Aus face book page and there's a Few around, like in medowie, kurri, and another Newcastle itself. I have only seen a micro blue in the last six months and that was three days ago in Raymond terrace.
Car is six months old with 10,000 km on it.
I've been told the BOV has stuck open on a few and that would be recirculating boost, and that is very close to how it feels. I've got maybe 20% boost at a guess and a BOV open would answer some questions.
Thanks for the warm welcomes.

Maitland Kia struck me as dodgy, tried to tell me that the only colour not having issues was red and not to buy any other colour. Just happened that other than a Micro Blue demonstrator with 2000km on the clock, and no obvious paint issues, the only new car they had was a red one. Their salesman put me off dealing with them. I strung them along to see what they’d offer then after screwing them down on price used it to negotiate elsewhere.

Anyway I wanted Micro Blue but not with a couple thousand test drive kms on it. I used to work at the Terrace but that wasn’t me up there 3 days ago

Problem found. BOV stuck open. Thanks for everyone's help except Kia service.
Good that it wasn’t serious & turned out to be a “simple” fix. Are you sure it wont happen again or did they replace it.

I sorted it myself but if it happens again I will be on them.

how do u check it? I started to feel less power in acceleration, nothing excessive, but definitely something feels not right. Then I came across your post. I would like to check the valves and the turbos on my car but I have no idea how and what to look for. I am a noob with engines, but with good directions I can figure it out. Would be possible for you to write down what you have done please? it would be great. Thanks

At the front of the engine you'll see two small hoses going to circular looking contraption. They're the blow off valves. If it's stuck open the boost will keep recirculating which will lose you a lot of boost, then I took it off gave it a clean and made sure the diaphragm was working, then refitted. Four bolts each BOV
Messenger me on Facebook if your stuck. I find it easier for photos etc.

I bought mine (MY19) from Maitland Kia (2hrs away) for 5k off what all other dealers were willing to sell me. To be honest, I don't even think they realised they were giving me the 19 model. I will get servicing done down here at Kingswood though. In my experience with all other cars I've owned though, most service departments haven't got a clue about the cars their yards are selling. Many hire young apprentices whose voices haven't even broken to do most of the work.

I have the same issue

Hey Canadian stinger here but what you experience sounds a lot like my current issue. Would you be able to DM with the details of what you checked to help me out ?
