What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Im worried about taking front end off as i think it may not line up the same way when i reinstall. Did you have any issues?
Very simple to install and I think putting it incorrect is imposible becouse the clips won’t Aline.

Question is ... do you need 2 people to reinstall the front bumper. I am wary about removing it also.

I did it alone just take your time and make sure you you have carbored or a blanket to place the bumper.

Engine was hungry today so gave it some Burger (products). New strut bars.

Probably sure they don't make any difference, buy hey...been wrong before! Can you tell a difference?

In the dimness of late evening, I followed an SUV on the left of a semi truck. Trouble was, the SUV had moved a bit to the left, apparently to create some extra space for passing; so it seemed to me. The lanes on Pacific Coast Hwy are not that wide. I don't know what the SUV did, but I high centered on a cement barrier that is all but invisible between the yellow painted lines. Thought I had mortally injured parts of my car!? WTF?! Yes, I said offensive things in the presence of my wife. I don't take any of them back. But I did say I was sorry that she had heard them. I had instantly hit the brakes upon hearing the grinding/ tearing sound coming from the bottom of my car. And I didn't move, except to leap out and cross the street and sit with my head in my hands, while police came; and somebody turned on my hazard lights; and people going east and west jinked this way and that to get around my stranded Stinger. Finally, a tow truck came. An "old school" type with a HOOK!? I woke up then and decided that it would be better to try first to move off the barrier, rather than let that maniac throw a hook on my car and drag it off!?? So that is what I did. Later, at the motel, I prepared myself for the worst and had a look. Not too bad! Just the cover under the engine got torn on the driver's side. There is a scrape along the larger cover toward the rear, but no tearing there. I didn't overreact. This is my Stinger, my favorite material thing. It is a special kind of pain when I do anything to hurt my car.

It wasn't my fault. But that just makes it all the more annoying, to be ambushed by what one does not see.

Unfortunate, but the damage doesn't appear to be bad. It looks like those low barrier strips are in relatively short segments, but fairly common along that stretch of highway - I imagine they are trying to prevent illegal turns in select spots on a busy stretch of road.

It does look like they highlight them by painting double solid lines on both sides - did you see the lines OK, but just followed the SUV in crossing over them?

Gee that sucks, why in the world would they not stick road reflectors on that thing, damn dangerous at night, maybe you could have a claim against who maintains the road to repair your damage, feeling your pain though.

Perhaps someone who's more familiar with the traffic code in California can confirm, but I'm pretty sure that crossing over a double set of paired yellow lines is illegal.

I sympathize with the situation, but I don't think he'd have a claim against those maintaining the highway. :(

I agree whith the double lines, they are white here, but looking at his photos, you can barely see them in the dark, whereas white lines light up like a led strip.

It could have been a lot worse, and I'm glad it wasn't. While it wasn't my car, it did create a good bit of damage. I was driving my buddies M3 that was lowered and we were out cruising. I was dumb enough to follow a SUV that drove right over a raised divider that was marked up like a double yellow and black, same as the asphalt. I see cars hung on it all the time. It divides a turn lane, and the forward moving lanes. It's the dumbest thing ever.

Needless to say, engine, radiator, steering rack, and a few other bits needed to be replaced. Thank god he had a dash cam and the county ended up removing that bit after replacing $20,000 worth of stuff on the M.

Yep. Almost dark. End-on: invisible to 66 year-old, sun dazzled eyeballs, I guess. You can hardly see the damned thing even in the pics; you'd not notice it unless you knew it was there.

Nice to learn that the undercarriage strips are in segments. I didn't know that before. (Should I go to the "interesting discoveries" thread with this? :p  )

(Edit: obviously still rattled; barrier strips are not undercarriage "strips", sheesh!)

Yeah. No claim whatsoever. The cops were understanding: about my wanting to drift to the left to give myself a bit more room as I sneaked past the semi trailer. It looked like a pair of painted yellow lines, and, "I'll just hang my left wheels a bit inside the middle lane; plenty of room, no oncoming traffic just now"; besides, there's an SUV in front of me already doing that and he looks like he knows what he's about", etc. *scrunch!*

I agree whith the double lines, they are white here, but looking at his photos, you can barely see them in the dark, whereas white lines light up like a led strip.
It wasn't the lines I missed; it was the raised cement barrier between them that I couldn't see. @SteveCo has it right: they put these things up to prevent "U" turns before the intersection. I "see" that clearly, now.

"Lowered"! Ye gods! That would have totally destroyed the parts you mentioned. I don't see Torrance or Lomita, et al. removing anything, just because some middle of the road illegal turning barrier collects a car now and then. It isn't as if they are invisible to locals; and for sure, after this, I will notice them. (I've only been going to the area for over forty years; what do I know?)

(edit: thanks, mod, for combining my four posts. I do know how to do this. I just wasn't thinking.)

That's a bummer dude, running over those things are a pain. Don't understand why they don't just use the stuff that sticks up higher to let you know to stay in your lane, something highly visible.

When the local authorities really don't want us to turn, they put up something like this - not as short 'segments', but for the whole block ... hard to miss!

California has an ailing economy (some say failing). So this is an economy measure. I said things about this town last night that I do not repent of this morning.
