To any owners from Massachusetts

Hi all.
been watching this forum for quite a while. about to move on from my truck with 200,000 on it. has been a fantastic vehicle (ridgeline)-but quite honestly i am tired of the size. (i bought it during the down economy and the auto bail-outs, so i got an offer i could not refuse)

i am looking for 4 door, awd, fast/fun to drive, great handling, room for 4, and a hatchback for cargo, long term reliability with good warranty. --pretty much narrows it down to one vehicle.

looking for a GT or GT1 depending on pricing(2018 build i hope), and leaning towards the .9% financing.

made a visit one dealership in mass, Wagner in Shrewsbury.
strike 1:
First thing i did was ask the salesman if there was any difference between the 18" and 19" option. he said "no".

i asked another salesman, he said the same thing. I then told them both about the reduced top speed--they argued with me and said it wasn't true. I had them go on the computer, to Kia's website and configure a GT with the all season option--low and behold, there was a speed limit notification. response: "wow, we better tell the sales manager about this"

strike 2:
they wouldn't give me a total price. the salesman made several visits to the room with the one way glass to speak to the sales manager-and would only give me a monthly payment price.
i was told since i was researching and not buying today, they wouldn't give me a total price since i would then compare it to other dealers.
again lol
felt like i was back in 1985
i told them this is 2018, that is exactly what i am going to do, since i quite honestly want to spend as little as possible.

So has anyone had a positive experience or can recommend a dealer in Massachusetts?

That does all sound shady. I first went to rt 6 Kia in Swansea Ma. Don’t even bother with them. Decided to try quirk Kia in Braintree since I bought a Passat from them back in ‘10. Complete 180 with the experience. Very upfront, didn’t try to sell me a car a didn’t want or sell me any add ons I didn’t want. Took about 20 minutes after test drive to agree on a price. Be sure to check on the lease cash incentives. And ask for Jerry!

I bought mine from gary rome kia in enfield ct.....not far from springfield mass. I was treated ok with little effort I got what I came for. a great car at a good price.

I told them if they can make money selling it at $37,250, that's what I would pay for it, it doesn't matter what demographic my wallet resides in. Done.

I could of sworn I saw an internet add on my car for a thousand less, than the already good low price so I mentioned that,....gary rome Kia lowered it, no complaints other than the almost m/t gas tank.

Had a great experience at Wagner IN Shrewsbury. Complete 180 from OP. Negotiated price via email, was emailing many dealers at the time for their best bids, and I also did extensive research into what others were paying beforehand. Wagner won and I went straight there to sign and drive.

picked up a blue GT AWD in September. has been fantastic. people are constantly asking about the car.
8000 miles later-no issues.
did have the recall to check on the wiring harness and have a grommet installed, but luckily the wires were not frayed.


i debated about getting snows. stuck with the stock tires, i wanted to see how the vehicle performed.
well we had a storm this past weekend, the car was better than i thought possible. Easily drove through 4-5 inches of snow with no issue or hesitation.i even pulled into a parking lot with a few inches of packed down snow to attempt a spin-out and i could not intentionally lose control.
very impressed with the performance and handling in bad weather.

coming from a truck, it is a little difficult getting used to the low clearance under the front. i admit, i have scraped the lower front -unknowingly
turning with the front edge going over a large rock. luckily i had ppf installed over the front and it was folded under the bumper, so damage is very minimal--although it looks worse because the film is damaged. highly recommend the extra expense to protect the vehicle.

besides the handling in the snow, my other biggest surprise is how much room the vehicle has with both the seats up, and then the huge available space with the seats down.

all and all, a great vehicle.very happy with it.

biggest drawback is several times i have been on 128 or 495 and not realized i was going 92mph--quickly slowed down of course. you can absolutely see that it was designed as a sporty highway cruiser--effortlessly fast,stable, and comfortable at high speeds.

and go PATS!!!!

We did not get a bunch of snow here in Quincy, but enough for me to see that the Stinger handles it very well on the stock all-season rubber. Along with all that, I find that the seats and steering wheel heat up pretty quickly and very effectively; it's a real joy to have that nice toasty steering wheel to touch. So now my winter routine for getting started in the Stinger is ingrained: turn on the ignition, then go straight down the console buttons from right to left, turning on the passenger seat heat (for her), shutting off the ISG, making sure Park Assist is on, turn on steering wheel heat, turn on driver's seat heat, turn on Auto-Hold.
