Hey guys, very excited to report that today is the big day for my Panthera Metal GT1. I am getting her professionally ceramic coated. It is a 4 year coating with a warranty, dropping her off today and wont be ready until after the weekend and I cant wait to see it!

The shop doing it is highly recommended in the Seattle area car scene, in fact I even saw his work on a Ceramic silver Stinger in person. Spoke to a few other people who got their rides done there and they still have nothing but positive things to say. I am very excited and will get some pics up when I get the car back. For those curious about a ceramic coating, imagine essentially laminating your entire car, wheels, and brake calipers. Not only does it make the vehicle super easy to keep clean. The pop of color added, especially the flake in the paint is multiplied. The whole car just pops, shines, and glistens like glass. Stay tuned for pics all.

Happy Friday.

Here is a pretty good video about the whole process, why it takes so long, and what the finished product can look like.

I can say that other ceramic coating jobs posted on here definitely look glossier. I am tempted to cover the rest of my car in ceramic too; I have the front (back to the windshield) under PPF.

And my questions are: is there a noticeable difference in the surface gloss between PPF and ceramic? Or is the process inclusive of already existing PPF, i.e. do they ceramic over the PPF? Or, does anyone put PPF over ceramic?

I have PPF on my front bumper hood area around the emblem and the detailer has no worries about it. It will get coated no problem he said. Just have to super clean it.

Why not just wash it and apply a sealant? Faster, cheaper, effective enough.

Ceramic is much better and longer lasting than sealant. You're talking ~year(s) of effectiveness vs ~month(s)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Not to mention all the paint correction that gets done beforehand, plus they are coating my wheels and brembos too!

They cermic over the PPF. At least my guy did, and it looks just awesome. I am 2 weeks out and love the results. Poured down rain last night on my commute home, and honestly, the ceramic coating on the windshield did a better job then the windshield wipers were doing at speeds of 40+ MPH.

Fascinating. How well does ceramic on the windshield hold up when scraping ice off?

Wow, hope you aren't paying $3,000. I got paint correction + 4 year ceramic coating for under $700.

I'll likely be putting ceramic coating on my car in the spring, but it'll cost me less an $100...because I don't let anyone else detail my car! lol

As long as you have all the supporting tools you'll stay under $100 :p
Most people don't have a DA polisher or clay.

Of course, that price doesn't include investment on tools, consumables and the intangible price of experience. But really, considering the work I've seen from "detailers" here and there, I feel much better doing the work myself.
