Wonder if that hatch edge is similar to the gas door edge issue. You can tell by look and feel that they didn't hit it with quite enough paint on the gas door.
Which Dealership in AZ?I called the Kia VIP line only to be fed some bullshit. I had already gone to the dealer who told me repainting is necessary. My issue is this... it is in a tricky area. The entire hatch would need to be removed, and a good portion of the surrounding panels would also need paint. I have 0 faith in "dealer sponsored" body shops as I always deal with the same repair shop that I trust.
I do trust the dealer but Panthera metal will be a terrifically difficult match since you have to match metallic density as well as depth and color.
I asked the VIP line that what difference does it make what color my car is if the result is the exact same process... he was absolutely underwhelming. Either way I will not own a new vehicle with some factory paint and some aftermarket paint without a fight. Its not like I damaged it... you just didn't paint it right.
BE WARNED - Horne Kia was great at the start, saying that my car needed to be repainted, but is now stabbing me in the back. They are going to send it to Platinum Paint and Body that did the sub-par amateur work seen above, and if you refuse Platinum's clear-bra, they will blame it on you.Horne Kia. Wtf with that cleaecoat peeling off. That isn't a rock chip. Looks like someone touched the basecoat with a greasy finger and then cleared over it.
In that one pic, I see three palpable rock chips and one very large peeling patch of clear coat. Also, from the reflection, it looks like your clear coat is "orange peel" textured. Is that accurate? If so, you can legitimately complain about that alone. I am confident that Kia will not accept such shoddy work on their cars still under warranty.Dealing with KMA (Kia Motors America)'s bullshit once again. They are giving me the run around that this here is a rock chip, and not the clear coat coming off. Dealership re-paint from their chosen shop. (I had my bumper included in the re-paint.) I am at a standstill now, as KMA (Kia Motors America) is saying nothing can be done, as the dealership and GM are saying its rock chips, when only the top service manager has looked physically at the car. (They were saying the first issues before re-paint were also rock-chips.. Called bullshit on that, as I have pictures of cars on their showroom floor peeling the same way and 103 pages here showing I'm not alone. At this point I'm just going to be calling in everyday until something is done.
Paint shop wont do anything either, saying they wont cover it, as I refused "their" clear-bra. They wanted 300+ more than what everyone else was quoting me, plus wanted to install it the day after clear coating. You don't put a clear-bra on a brand new, still curing / non baked, clear coat. When the clear-bra would need replacement, the clear coat would come with it... (I live in AZ, within 3 years if that, the clear-bra would need replacement from being peppered to much.

I called the VIP line and got absolutely nowhere. Oh wow. Not that it makes much of a difference, as after that little mileage no chipping should be happening, but do they look like rock chips or something else? I am very sorry to hear this, btw.Bad news, 400 miles in the paint is chipping on my doors, after the repaint.

On your yellow repaint did they sand to metal or just to primer? Wonder if the paint is the same source KIA uses and its just shit all around?Don't get me wrong they did a great job, paint looks amazing. However, not happy that I already have chips on the non front facing metal pieces. And, KIA refuses to reimburse me for the paint matching issues.
As far as I know, they sanded it down to the metal. The paint used was PPG paint. On your yellow repaint did they sand to metal or just to primer? Wonder if the paint is the same source KIA uses and its just shit all around?
Did you already collect your $5000?As far as I know, they sanded it down to the metal. The paint used was PPG paint.
No I have not collected the $5K yet. I would do the buy back but I don't know what else I would purchase, and I don't think they will refund the $7K not including payments that I've invested in this vehicle so far.
