I was finally able to unbox the Big Mouth intake snorkle from Velossa Tech Design.

When I saw these were being developed I reached out directly to Velossa to order.

They have 28 different colors that the body and mouth can be. I chose black and white for my Snow White Pearl but pretty much any color stinger can find a combo that works with your look.

Each snorkel is pretty light, I’d guess maybe 1lb a piece. They are 3D printed which means the edges are not perfect but it’s not something that will be an issue sitting behind a grill.

Also each snorkel has metal reinforcements where the mounting bolts will go.

This will be the view from behind the grill.

These will for both the 3.3 and 2.0. The 2.0 would just be one snorkel I’m guessing.

I’m hoping to have these installed this weekend once I get my car back from paint and want to do some before and after testing with air temps at the filter (K&N Intake)

Very cool, im really curious if these will increase intake noise with the factory boxes. If they do this could be a great upgrade for the guys looking to keep things stock with a little extra growl and power. I also think these might help produce only gains without that lowend torque loss that comes with installing short ram intakes.

I’d be very surprised if these increased noise very much inside the cabin. At best they may increase noise at the front of the car now that there is an opening directly to the factory air box. Unfortunately since I have the KN already I won’t be able to tell you if it’s any louder.

As for power increase, testing will help figure out if cooler air is able to get to the filter from a stop or very low speeds. Should definitely see a drop in air temp at 30+

Darn I was thinking you were running OEM boxes.

Very nice. Looking forward to the installation.

@NS_Stinger These will lkely not increase intake sound, as the OEM boxes quite the intake a lot, however these may produce some gains, not a lot but definitely some.

I guess the question is do you unhook any factory tubing from the OEM boxes if you install these? If not yes they won't do much regarding sound but I bet they will help direct a heck of a lot more cool air to where it needs to go. Gains for these would be very difficult to measure on a dyno.

On the front of the factory air box there is a square opening that goes to the front of the car that is supposed to bring in cool air. However people have noted that this opening is restricted on the bumper side. This would remove the restricted airflow and should allow sounds that come through the filter to be heard in front of the car.

Lookin Good ! Did I miss the "how to" install video? Please direct me to it...these have to be a winner.... Wash

excellent product, post a complete install if you can. This will definitely on my purchase list.

Did they provide an installation manual, if so please post it. I am wondering if you use existing holes or if you have to tap new ones to fit them.

No, but you did miss the part where I said I’ll be installing them this weekend. ;)

Yes they emailed me an install manual. I read over it and don’t remember having to tap any holes, should utilize existing hardware.

They do say to remove the radiator shroud and leave it off to avoid cutting or fabrication but I’m going to try and get both to work together.

DAJ... No I didn't miss the part where you said you will be installing them this weekend....installing something doesnt mean squat....now videoing and a" how to" with pics is entirely something else ;) Wash

Interesting... They need to add a mesh grill option to block large(r) objects from entering the snorkel. I'll try a set if they add a mesh grill option.

Wat.

I’m not really worried about it as the opening is behind the grill which I would imagine blocks a majority of large bugs/debris. The filter will grab the rest.

Also, anything that makes it through on a stock intake that stuff will just collect at the bottom of the air box. On my K&N it will collect on the shield.

I’ll keep an eye on it but adding some mesh will be easy for anyone really concerned.

Hey guys! Dan @ VT here. Glad you love the product. It was a lot of fun to design and we KNOW you are going to love the throttle response and cool airflow. I designed these ducts using the latest engineering tools for fluid simulations, CFD/CFX and designed in Unigraphics NX12. A little background story about myself. I was a former Aerospace engineer that used to design flow paths for turbine engines, my job for 8 years was to simulate flow fields using CFD analyses of these flow paths and to maximize flow by minimizing pressure drop and momentum loss, I also specialized in heat transfer and heat transport.

Four years ago I left the 9-5 industry as an engineer, and started Velossa Tech. I started with one rickity little 3d printer and a dream. That dream was to 3D print performance parts right here in the US, no chinese injection molded parts, only truely unique, precisely engineered shapes that are nearly impossible to make with conventional methods or color customize.

Today, we have 27 x 3D printers, the machines were designed by me as well with custom firmware for our production application. Our parts, our machines, our shipping, our customer service, our brand and our vision. My staff is dedicated to delivering quality parts and precisely engineered flow paths. We also love to give our products an aesthetic appeal and on top of all that, must be easy to install. The BIG MOUTH name is trademarked under US law and the 'flare behind the grille' look is also pending trade dress protection for all of the platforms we currently serve, which are mostly Fords, but I intend to jump into other makes and models!

I am so glad to have entered such an enthusiastic market with open arms, wait until you see whats next!

For those of your who follow SEMA, I won the 2016 35 under 35 award for bringing 3D printing to the forefront of aftermarket manufacturing.

It is an honor to serve the aftermarket community and make your dream and my dream come true, custom after market intakes, no limits!!

Best wishes,

Dan/VT

@VelossaTech Outstanding introduction. Very happy to have you making and supporting the aftermarket parts community for the Stinger. Eager to see what other parts you have in the works for our platform. Welcome!!

Very nice product @VelossaTech! Should be a hit with the Stinger community. I just ordered a pair and look forward to installing. I presume install instructions will be included.

I put large(r) with the bracket to indicate mostly tiny debris that's small enough to easily get passed the grill, but big enough to do actual damage to the filter. These are things that are big enough to be stopped by gravity which is why the factory "duct" is designed the way it is (partially obstructed, essentially), but that a mesh filter would be great at stopping.

I do hope they design that as part of it as a future option or just a future feature. The grill doesn't have to be "filter"-like in density, but people are already putting mesh filters on the fender sidevents because of how their tires are tossing tiny rocks through the vent. I see myself ordering one of these if they've got a (replaceable, of course) mesh grill built into it that'll prevent me from having to pick the bees and flies off my air filter

Hi Dan, have a concern of water ingress together with the full frontal ram air. Am from tropical Singapore and we get big downpours quite often. Have you tested for this?
