Kia Stinger

I just had somebody ask me, "What do you think the Kia Stinger will be worth in two years?". I'm not quite sure... What do YOU think? Let's talk about it...

I’m on mobile right now, so a pain to search, but someone had previously posted the Kia leasing charts. If they offer a 48 mo. lease term, you can check the residual column for at least their estimate.
That residual column says the GT2 RWD (MSRP 50,100) will be worth 48% in 48 months (53% in 36 months)
That means in 2020, the car will be worth 50,100 * 0.53 = $26,553
In 2021, the car will be worth $50,100 * 0.48 = $24,048
Since Kia is fond of these comparisons:
Porsche Panamara 36 months : MSRP of 88,235, 51% Residual = $44,855 (taken from https://dsrleasing.com/car-listings/porsche-panamera-1119-mo-lease/)
2018 Audi A5 36 months: MSRP of 63,975, 64% residual = $40,944 (https://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/44753/audi/a5/2018-audi-a5-lease-deals-and-prices)
I guess the difference between the Stinger and the others is that they'll still be in the luxury price range after 3 years. The GT2 Stinger will be the price of a base-trim Toyota Camry.
That is what KMF is forecasting...doesnt mean what the market will actually show. I dont imagine Honda applies such "optimistic" residual values to its leases either. That is still a huge hit for just 2 years. For comparison, my Honda Accord, 2013 ex-l, has lost around $14-$15K in 5.5 years... I'd like the stinger, well, I'd like it even more, if I could get a lighter color interior... But I think I'll wait a year or two longer, cross fingers nothing serious breaks on the accord, and try to find a CPO Stinger with less than 2 years on the road.

Some more than others though. See: VW Golf R. BMW M.Cars are (quickly) depreciating assets.

True, but those are both special versions of a standard model. The Stinger doesn’t have a GT-S or GT-R version yet, but I’d bet that would hold value better too. Some more than others though. See: VW Golf R. BMW M.
