Hey everyone. I'm pretty sure most of us want our Stingers to have a little more rumble out of the exhaust. I'm not planning to do any performance mods to my Stinger right now although that could change but I sure would like it to sound more like my brothers 650 hp Camaro SS. So my question is, knowing that I'm probably looking at $1,000 to $1,500 to do an exhaust upgrade, less for just a cat back, I'm wondering if anyone has tried using "zoomies" that you can order from Dave Kindig's shop that cost $450? Seems like it might be a cheaper alternative so I'm curious if anyone has tried them.

Ummmmmm????? This is a turbo v6 you will not get any sort of "rumble" out of it.

I understand that a turbo'd V6 will never sound like a 6.2L supercharged V8, my question is has anyone tried those zoomies and if so how do they compare to changing to an aftermarket exhaust. That's all.

No idea who Doug Kindig is but are you asking about exhaust cutouts? If so, you can buy them for quite a bit cheaper than $450. Check Summit Racing or Amazon.

Here's one from Amazon found in a quick Googlin'. They probably have pairs for cheaper per unit. Definitely cheaper than $450!

Hes an old head rat rod builder on TV. Zoomies are the open headers you see on drag cars/rat rods. OP is going to have to post a link to these cause it's sounding like he wants to do some fender dumps on a stinger.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Ohhh...well that's... different.

For sure. I have no clue what he.. or she is getting at with this. I googled dave kindig kia stinger zoomies and it returned nothing useful.

Well googling "dave kindig zoomies" gets you exactly what he's asking about... electric exhaust cutouts, expensive ones.

It will probably sound like butt, because turbo V6 != supercharged V8.

Kindig runs Kindigit Designs in Salt Lake City, which is the shop featured in the TV show "Bitchin Rides". They do extremely high end custom cars.
Dave calls them zoomies. Annoys me every time. They're exhaust cutouts. As said, zoomies are a specific type of hot rod header from the 50's/60's.
There are several manufacturers of exhaust cutouts and you can get them at any price point. $500 for two quality valves and a controller is a fair price. A lot of the valves suffer from the heat and fail quickly. On old cars they also get jammed with carbon - less of a problem on modern stuff.

As said, cutouts will make the car loud, but won't necessarily sound good. If you want to know what it will sound like, just remove your mufflers and go for a drive. Only takes a few minutes.

Cat back is your best option. Tons of videos from folks showing what the different systems sound like. Downpipes will add a bit of performance, but not necessarily much in the way of sound. And you can get the same effect for free if you know what you're doing.

Heres my 3 cents

The 'best' sound this car can have is a very loud drone filled turbo sounding strait pipe or dump.

Or just a catback with improved DB's and potential for drone

Or no cats and still a muffler. (Tork style kinda loud)

Or stock which after 50k miles has become much louder than off the showroom with 13 miles on it.
