Driving yesterday morning while it was still dark, I was in the left lane passing a few slower vehicles (school bus, trucks) and when I pass the Penske truck, something metal flies from his truck into my lane and hits the front nose of my car. In the moment, it felt like he threw a can of pop out, but now that I look at the video, it's definitely metal but not a can. I've looked at this in .25 speed in Windows Media Player, but I can't tell just where this thing originates from (other than from the general direction of the cab of the truck) or what it is ... wondering if anyone knows of a freeware video tool that I could use to watch it in slower motion, and even zoom in and sharpen to get a better look at where this thing came from. Excuse the language, it startled me :-/

Not sure but I think Negan is in the back seat.

Negan is a fictional character in a television show I started watching 10 years after everybody else. He whistles...

I actually thought I was the only human on Earth who hadn't watched it.
LOL ... I googled "Negan" and learned he was a character in The Walking Dead. Nope, you're the second-last ... never seen an episode. I made sure I wasn't singing during that clip, but totally didn't realize I was whistling - d'oh!

Before I started watching The Walking Dead earlier this year, to my knowledge, the only two people who hadn't watched it were me and a gentleman named "Penelope" in Skonkondini, Nebraska.

Now I see that I was mistaken...

In other news, I watched "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" last year.

Those I've seen ... multiple times ... and loved. No worries, it's Friday afternoon, tough to stay on-topic ;)

For the topic, I have no clue what in the world that was. Whatever it was must have had some mass to it in order to make a thunk that loud. Did it cause any/much damage?

This would be my biggest problem with having a dash cam. I'm always singing while I'm driving, and no my singing sucks. I'm also guilty of whistling or humming along to the music playing in the store.

It caused a very small, but nasty, chip in the paint a few inches above the lip of the hood, and there are a few scratches on the front grill and nose between the grill and hood. :(

First that sucks sorry that shit happened. Itvlooks like it bounced off the front of the truck to me. For example someone left their metal bottle of water on the bumper and it finally decided to fall off at the worst moment. Didn't hit the glass so uber bonus there. Ill jave to see if i can load my wtf moment up for entertainment for you. Again glad you're good though.

Side note never seen an episode. Of course im not a big tv person either.

VLC media player is free and has a good frame by frame feature that lets you inch forward through the footage.
I've downloaded your video from youtube and watched it in VLC - its still hard to determine what the item is as its blurry - maybe its a small spanner (?), but also it looks like it has come bouncing down the road from ahead of the truck - it is hard to tell but to me it doesn't look like it has come from the truck.

Like I said, I got lucky. It seemed super sketchy as I was coming up on him as it was.
Yikes! Very fortuitous timing for your lane change!

Thanks, I'll check that out. Fortunately, my parents are brits so I know what a 'spanner' is ;) It almost looked like a twisted piece of metal, but it's tough to tell without it being slowed down. Thank you for taking a closer look at it.
