Would these tires be considered about ready to change out?

There’s a tiny hole that’s leaking and apparently firestone can’t patch it bc it’s already been patched once and even though they tried twice it’s still leaking.
So now I’m probably going to just replace them but I can’t decide if it’s too early.

they are only losing about 1 psi per 2-3 days so it’s a very slow leak, I could just make them last a bit longer.

LOL that tire is damn near new, must be a front to have that much tread at 17K.

Find an independent tire shop and they'll hook you up (assuming the hole is in the tread not the sidewall). Those big chains have stupid rules because lawyers ruin everything.

I'd never replace an undamaged tire that looks that new. Just monitor the psi and add air every few days. Annoying, certainly. But not a deal breaker, in my humble opinion.

Basically you don't need to replace tires due to wear until the tread is level with the wear indicator/bar and that picture shows that tire has tons of life left in it.

If they can't patch it, tell them to put a plug in it or as said above, find a new tire shop. Better yet, buy a tire repair kit for $20 and plug it yourself. I've had a plug in my rear tire for over a year now.

Plenty of tread left. And yes, you can easily fix the leak yourself with a plug kit.

Whilst I understand the reluctance to change what appears to be a good tyre, the reality is, it has a leak and has already had a repair!!

You have a £40k / $50k car and you are quibbling over a couple of hundred dollars of tyre.

I presume you have a car with at least 250 bhp, poss 365 or more even and one corner has a dodgy tyre!

As for when to change when worn, the legal minimum (UK) is 1.6 mm, the level of the TWI, but below 3 mm you are compromised on wet weather performance.

I am sure you will have your own ideas, but I would replace the tyre! I would in fact try and convince the wife, that a new set of alloys and tyres would make sense!

Find another shop, I think Americas Tire may do a plug and patch. But then again, as was posted earlier, lawyers. So maybe an independant shop.
