Hello Folks

Has anybody experienced extreme heat on both the wireless charger and on your phone after about an hour of charging? I have a 2019 Stinger Limited AWD with 753 km's on it (still breaking her in). I haven't had many chances for longer drives with my recently purchased vehicle until this evening. Came home and took my phone off the charger and both my phone and the charger surface were extremely hot. I assume this would not be the norm, any advice?

Known thing. Many posts about it.

helps but won’t prevent it by running the ac cold to the back seats.

I tried to do a search to find information about this but obviously didn’t look hard enough. My apologies.

No worries. Mine was a god damn lava rock the first time I did it in winter with the rear heat vent. The phone flipped me the bird after charring my hand and shut down.

Yeah, plus, with my S7, it gets like 5% per hour or something.. And the extreme heat kills it. Worthless option for me.

Exactly! Is it really that difficult to plug in a phone to a USB port? Useless feature.

Well, if it WORKED and didn't try to "make fire" at the same time, it'd be cool... As it is, I generally turn it off..

My phone doesnt have nor support wireless charing (OnePlus 6). And even my phone got hot from that space.
So i turned it off in settings, since i anyways use cable to charge the phone.

I have a OnePlus 7 pro which also doesn't have wireless charging. Several times now I have gotten overtemp warnings on road trips.

Is the heat coming from the charger or the transmission underneath?

I wirelessly charge my galaxy note 9 sometimes and when I do, the phone is very warm after about 25+ minutes of charging (not the pad). I do however get the fast charge with it...I switch between usb and wireless due to my type C port being clogged or jammed and some days I hate playing around with my cable lol.

For me it was the charging plate.
Go into the settings (in front of the steering wheel IIRC) and turn it off and problem was solved for me.

There is a climate control duct under the center console. Has anyone tried insulating the duct to see if it will solve this problem? I'm putting together a list of mods I'm going to do as soon as I get my Stinger and this will be one of the to-do items.

I bought an samsung note 10+ this monday and have been testing the wireless charging, my phone does not get warm or hot in the charging spot.
Altho perhaps the charging is not as power full when the phone battery is like 85%+?

I checked my settings and the wireless charger was already turned off. So in my case the heat must be coming up from the transmission (or maybe the duct). I've also noticed the inside of the cupholders gets hot as well.
This happens when I drive from Dallas to Austin (210mi).

I have plans to install acoustic treatment in the car "soon" , I'll add some insulation in the console and see if that helps.

In my cupholders, cold air are coming thru, and they are generally cold summer as winter.
