Plates came in for my 20 stinger put the rear one on and I go to remove the front license plate bracket and the dealer drilled 6 holes in the front bumper to mount the bracket! Why does almost every dealer do this? I haven’t ran a front plate on my car for 5 years with no issues but now I’m debating on just running a front plate instead of having 6 holes in my bumper showing.

North American Stingers' bumpers have 6 indents in them that are designed to be drilled for a front plate. So dealers use all 6 holes. Total overkill for sure.
Front plates look terrible on all NA vehicles so thankfully I don't need a front plate here but I still have the small indents in my bumper where it would attach.

It looks like complete crap so now I’m debating if I want to have the front bumper repainted or use those bumper plugs

Yeah that's a tough decision. I would probably look into what it would cost to fill and repaint because I wouldn't be able to tolerate having 6 holes in my bumper or a nasty front plate...

Bumper plugs aren't terrible if they blend with front sonar parking assist sensors, unfortunately the Stinger doesn't have any in the bumper. Also, 6 might look a bit silly.

I had to run bumper plugs on my new BMW since it came from a province that needs front plates and the dealer in their infinite wisdom put the front plate mount on before the car was sold. They actually don't bother me too much, but there are only 4 and the blend somewhat with the front sonar sensors.

Curious, what state do you live in?

I thought so. It's a hefty fine if it isn't mounted on the front of the vehicle. In this tougher budget times with COVID 19, I wouldn't be surprised if the state starts targeting easy money like this. You may come to be glad you have your front plate mounted on your bumper.

"each registered vehicle must display two license plates, one at the exterior front and one at the exterior rear of the vehicle that are securely fastened at the exterior front and rear of the vehicle in a horizontal position of not less than 12 inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom."

first offense is a fix it ticket I bring proof that I have mounted my front plate it gets dismissed I pay the court $10 or whatever and go about my way. And actually it’s opposite a co workers husband is a Fort Worth officer and she says they are looking the other way on a lot of smaller infractions to avoid interacting with people

Yes, for the moment I believe it.

I was cruising down I-10 on Sunday, behaving myself while trailing a marked El Paso PD car. As soon as he exited, I decided to let the horses run in my MB S550. I hit 95 as I passed this grey Taurus... I've been cooped up at home most of the last 8 weeks as a healthy quarantine, so I've been missing the open road.

All of the sudden, I discover he is an unmarked State Patrol car, as his previously hidden lights go all Christmas on me.

I immediately start getting over to the shoulder at an exit about 1/2 mile up. I roll down all of my illegally tinted windows so he knows I'm not a gangster or drug runner from Juarez...

When he gets to my passenger side window, he identifies himself and asks me to slow down because I was driving a little too fast. 95 in a 60 zone is just a little too fast in this Pandemic environment. Then he says, beautiful car, have a great day.

I'm kind of glad that here in Ontario we have to have a front plate.
I feel that the plate and its mount somewhat protect my bumper in a parking lot. As long as the car is hitting my bumper from head on.
On an angle is another story....

My car came with the mounting for the front plate already installed. In CA you don't really get pulled over for a front plate, they just tack on the infraction to something else. My last car didn't have a front plate and I got dinged for it a couple times at parking meters too.

If the dealer hadn't already drilled the holes and attached the mount, I'd probably install the aftermarket offset mount, but I'm probably not going back to running plateless. It's just an unnecessary PITA here in California.

I had a bunch of holes drilled in mine too but the DMV area is strict with front plate laws so I run a plate. If you do get it filled/repainted think about having them remove the Kia emblem and fill those 3 holes too. It’s a clean look IMO.
