Why are you buying a Kia Stinger? It's a simple question but it can have a variety of answers. So what is it that's making you want or need this car? Versatility? Performance? Fun to drive factor? Good looks? Just something about it? Maybe I should add a poll. I wonder if I can do that later. Let's see if anybody replies first. :p

Good looks, likely will be very reliable, great value, and great performance. It sounds like it'll be fun to drive as well.

I wanted something new and fresh and exciting. There are plenty of great cars out there but none really excited me. Before the Stinger, I was pretty sure I would end up with a CTS Vsport, since they are so very fun to drive. But, as fun to drive as they are, I just can't get excited by the looks.

The Stinger gives me (almost) everything I want, in a package that looks great.

Why? because we can't find any 350+ lb.-ft. of torque anywhere in America with a decent price.

I've been anticipating a forthcoming change to a new vehicle, which because of need to accommodate a family including a young child, had been considering a top spec 10th gen Honda Accord or 8th gen Camry, or even a Civic Type R. While the V6 Camry had became my decided choice, neither of the three cars really inspired my enthusiasm to purchase - it was compromise all the way for practical reasons of domesticity. I accidentally found out about the Stinger only 8 or 9 weeks ago, and importantly it's appearance caught my attention (Wow!). When I dug deeper, I was blown away with the whole package (engine power, interior finish etc) on offer for the price, which in my country for the GT3.3, is only 17% above the top spec Accord, V6 Camry and Civic Type R. As a dad that aspires to own good looking cars that also perform and drive well, the Stinger fits my wish list almost perfectly, and has brought a smile and eagerness back into my forthcoming purchase. Can't wait!

Over a year ago I decided I wanted my next car to combine my favorite features of my '86 Camaro Z28 and my '97 Grand Prix GT:
  • Fastback hatch with folding rear seats
  • GT sedan
  • HUD
  • Leather seats
  • Compact spare
  • Decent rear seat leg room and front seat comfort
And I absolutely did NOT want run flats or a manual parking brake, the only feature of my Camaro that I hated.

Who knew what a hard combo that would be to produce? In my price range, nothing met those requirements except the Stinger and the Regal GS. The more I read and saw in showrooms, the more sure I became certain it would be the Stinger. Stunning looks, every feature I wanted, and none of the ones I didn't. Plus Kia owners kept telling me how much they love their cars, and that power train warranty did the rest of the convincing. Well, that and you all on the Forum.

Now, why the 3.3 instead of something more "reasonable"? Well, at first it was a "sacrifice" I was willing to make in order to get HUD, but now it's just my lust for power. I guess I've watched too many track videos, teehee.

1) I was going to buy a new MX-5 for the Spring/Summer/Fall and buy a lightly used (5 year, 10k miles) Subaru Outback from a co-worker for the Winter, however that fell through.

2) I was going to buy a new Mazda6 but the lack of a more powerful engine really sucks. If it had this I would buy it in a heartbeat.

3) Honda Accord, Honda Civic Type R, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen GTI ,do not do anything for me style wise. The GTI checks off a lot of boxes but damn is it ugly. Civic Type R too racer boyish.

4) Worried about maintenance costs on a CPO Audi A7

5) Porsche 718 $15k out of my price range :(

So hello Kia Stinger! Or Genesis G70! Or....?

Lol I can’t agree more. Although I doubt I’d drive like those videos but knowing my car is capable is just a good assurance in case someone pisses me off on the road. :p

Only if Mazda brings back a liftback hatch variant of the 6 and makes it a RWD. I have always liked the company and their design/driving dynamic philosophy.
Yeah my favorite car I've ever owned was a Mazda rx7. I'm also in love with their Vision coupe but I doubt that will ever get made.

Mazda just announced today they are sticking a turbo on that Mazda 6. :)

About time. Their NA 4-banger has pretty sad power for a car that size, and especially one that sporty looking. As @regnitStinger said, they'd need to bring back the wagon or sportback to get my business.

Because I got married last year and I don't want to have to spend this Winter keeping my daily driver outside. Between my Optima and Corvette, the Stinger is the perfect amalgam of both cars. Got the power, liftback and RWD of the Vette, with the passenger capacity, storage and daily drivability of the Optima, and a nicer interior than both. I will be sad to lose my targa top though.

I want a 4 door car to carry 4 passengers and their luggage in comfort for more than an hour. I want easy ingress/egress. I want power and athleticism because it's replacing my 350Z. I want RWD or, in lieu of that, AWD. I want plush when I take it out of sport mode. I want features and luxury. I want a driver's car.

The only upscale dealers within 15 miles (my limit) of my home are Mercedes and Buick so that leaves me with the also non-existent '18 Regal GS, MB, and the Stinger. I've checked out the C-Class AMG and it's nice but doesn't really have room for 4 passengers in comfort. The E-Class AMG is $90K and I'm just not going to spend that much. So it's down to the Stinger and the Regal GS and I think the Stinger is going to be the more exciting car. I'm a little disappointed by missing features and colors on the Stinger. I'm waiting for the release of the Stinger and the Buick...

Until about ten years ago I was bumbling along completely content to have whatever the Discount not far from Runner-up to the Camry and Accord was at the time. I always enjoyed reading about performance cars...but thought I'd be practical until I could afford one. 2009 came along, many parts of industry were feeling the financial crisis and Pontiac put a huge discount on their G8's. I bought it and fell in love with the characteristics. It truly is a driver's car. In addition, it also happened to be the perfect family sedan with plenty of room for five very tall adults as a bonus. It was not, however, big on luxury, even though I got it fully loaded with every nicety they offered. I've been casually searching ever since. I typically drive many miles...so my list came to include respectable fuel mileage (At least 20mpg combined). So, what I've boiled it down to is I need Excellent Driving Dynamics (RWD preferred) with room for the family. I want luxury (this time). I want a good price (I refuse to pay more than 50% of my first house). I want piece of mind. (Either the warranty or easy access to parts and no need for expensive special tools).
The Stinger is the closest available. If the latest list of colors are correct, the Stinger has also helped me overcome another obstacle. My wife loves the color yellow...and I love colors that stand out. I don't have a definitive timeframe...but unless somebody comes out with something that hits all of my wishlist with 3 more inches of rear legroom for the same or better price...I'll be visiting a Kia dealership for my next vehicle.

If I end up with one it'll be because I wanted a hatchback and a BMW 4 was more than I wanted to spend

My current car is almost 20 years old and it's about that time to get a new one. I've always driven boring sedans because I'm generally a practical guy. But this time I want a sedan that isn't boring. I don't particularly like SUVs or crossovers, and I have a daughter so I need a backseat. So:

1) I was drawn to the Stinger because of the looks (not boring)
2) The price. When I first heard about the Stinger estimates for the 2.0T were around 29K. I can afford a more expensive car, but I don't like spending tons of money on a vehicle. The Stinger fit the bill.

Those were really the major two factors. I don't really care about performance. Just about anything performs better than my current car. I'm not a car guy so all the talk of handling, horsepower, torque, etc is lost on me. I drive like a little old lady anyway. (I'm a 39 year old man). I'm also considering the Honda Accord Sport (2017) and Buick Regal Sportback, but the Stinger is at the top of the list.

I have two kids so for me I need a car that is practical and a little bigger than the smaller sport sedans(A4, 3 series, WRX, etc). At the same time I wanted something sporty and fun to drive. The Stinger fits both nicely. The hatchback, nice interior, and Kia reliability are a bonus.

Before you buy, try it out with the whole family loaded in there. There’s not as much room as you think there is. Pretty snug in the back!
