Greetings,

I am currently in talks to getting my Stinger wrapped. The discussions started out as an estimate for a vinyl PPF bra, and now I’m just thinking about changing the entire color AND protecting the paint. I’m currently mesmerized by a certain shade of metallic dark green.

My question is: Are there any of you who have had this project done on your Stingers? Can you share how much the job costed, so I can get a feel for an average?

Thanks!

It will be dependent on your area but I was quoted about $9000 for a wrap and a PPF over the entire car. That included removing PPF already on the car too and doing some minor paint correction before the wrap went on. I only got that one quote and I don't know if that was higher than most places or not. I ended up only getting my roof wrapped.

If I get quoted 9k, I’ll probably wind up only wrapping my roof and hood too. Thanks for the reply. That would certainly be too much.

I was quoted $2200 for a full two-tone 3M job. Out the door with badge removals/installs and all door jams it was $3000

How long would these professional wraps last? They protect the paint correct?

I was considering Fed Orange or a close equivalent until I read on here that wrap is not PPF; it does not protect like PPF; it's thinner for one thing. So, I bagged that idea. I've held the idea (from what I've read) that a full wrap done correctly is at least $3K and would still reasonably cost up to twice that much. Things like a backed warranty for materials and workmanship would be worth paying a higher price for. I'd also look into product quality and only pick from the best recommended brands. You can't go wrong with 3M.

Here's how I would go about it: do a search and find a local installer, as for instance this one in my area: looks good! Color Change Vinyl Wraps | Utah Car Wrap Company | Queen of Wraps They've been at it a long time and their spiel is convincing to me. :D "Start at $4,000" for a full wrap, with all possible trim and parts removed to ensure as much paint covered as possible. Quality, and you pay for it. Look for reviews: these guys are 4.7 out of 159 reviews; that's pretty solid.

In any case, a good wrap is going to cost a lot less than a full paint job and last looking good just as long. You could probably get two wraps done for the price of a real quality paint job; maybe three wraps even. It depends on the price and quality of install. I'm sure some are a lot less expensive and yet do a credible job that lasts looking good for years. One of those reviews said that their wrap still looks like new after five years. That's pretty impressive.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally have an appointment for this Sunday, at a place called Automotive Aesthetics. I decided to go partial. Therefore, Sunday will be the roof and hood in a 3M gloss black. The following Friday will I will be getting a $375 PFF bra placed on my front bumper, before the roads eat up my new paint job. Pics to follow on a new thread!! Here’s a sample of what the hood will look like.

 Thank you! Keep in mind, though, that is not my car in the picture- but rather, what my car will look like after Sunday. Yes, I was thinking the same...if you look directly at the front “face” of the car it looks just like a bee. It’s fitting that this is a Stinger!
