Hey All,

I have been reading the forum and a lot of them are suggesting to get a ceramic coating. I plan to do it myself could anyone suggest which one is the best and where can I get it from? I am based in Toronto.

Also, PPF is applied after the ceramic coating or just the ceramic coating is fine?

If doing both, PPF is applied first and then the ceramic coating is applied over the top. I do not believe PPF would adhere to a ceramic coated car. Mine is slicker than a Teflon coated sheet of ice.

I can't tell you which ceramic is best but I am very happy with the CQuartz Pro I had professionally applied. From my research, the prep work is key. I had full paint correction done as part of my install and it was worth every penny. The process should be much easier for a brand new car but preparation is still key.

Ceramic coating is secondary to paint correction. Ceramic hides nothing and can accentuate issues if not done properly

Spot on @jazzdabb and @runner1! I had mine professionally done with around 750 miles on the clock in 2018. Gotta prep and gotta do it right! Remember, the coating and the PPF isn't a substitution for not keeping her "fresh", it just makes it so much easier.

So just a PPF should suffice or would suggest PPF and ceramic on top of it? I am getting a new one and I am planning to get PPF as soon as I get the car.

PPF for protection. Ceramic for ease of cleaning.

Like “the best” exhausts, CAI, tunes, car wash, bubble gum, escorts....

It is subjective and everyone has a biased opinion.

Pick reputable brands. They all are basically the same.

CarPro Cquartz 50ml Kit - Ceramic Coating Finish for 80 buck s off Amazon. Or you buy all the stuff to do paint correction yourself and this kit you looking at 400. That's the rout I went and I'm happy.

Wash > polish using carpro essence > apply Cquartz.

Oh crap. I’ve been doing it wrong.

Throw sand on it -> slide across the hood like the duke boys -> have Tawny Kitaen polish the bonnet -> park under maple trees -> put bird seed on paint -> really work in with some sandpaper. -> then apply the ceramic.

Damn.

Just for clarity, here are some before / after photos from the paint correction and ceramic coating application.

Disclaimer: this was a leased car I picked up used for a great deal. Not sure if the dealer or lessee is responsible for the swirls and water spots. Distinctive Detailing was utterly meticulous in their prep work.

This turned into a big comment sorry

Depends the professional kits are highly priced n only given to certified detailer n not diy. The diy kits are good but aren't permanent per se. I can't recommend any diy ones but professional, I did the crystal serum ultra all panels/wheels costed 1750ish. This was done on my previous car an audi a6 2016. The 1750 included the car getting a full detail, all swirls buffed, hard water spots buffed, scratches fixed, paint chips touched up, clayed, iron removed, etc.

Now imo I hated the coating, it was imo more difficult to wash the car as the car held the water into beads in spots it didn't drip down n pressure washing doesnt make it a perfect clean. You would need to hand wash it then need a leaf blower to make it perfect. My car was black and I didn't have a leaf blower but used a redneck car vacuum n a towel to wipe dry then go back n use a polish towel to remove all the fingerprints, n towel marks.

No. Professionally applied. I wanted great results and it came out way better than if I’d done it myself.

I don't understand understand the underlying reason for mockery?
