Where does the "growl" come from?

Hi Everyone,
New Stinger owner here. I have a 2022 GT2 and was wondering - when I put it in Sport mode the engine sounds change to a louder, deeper growl. I know some of it is pumped through the entertainment system. Just wondering, what is happening in the engine compartment to make the sounds change?

Anecdotally speaking…

I sport mode for me, especially when decelerating/downshifting at slow speeds), I get way more pops and gurgles (Borla exhaust). I can switch while doing this between sport and comfort and hear a difference.

I suspect more fuel is injected in sport or something in valve duration changes. Again, not talking night throttle or high rpm situations.

I’m not an expert but I did park my stinger at a holiday inn last night.

The 2022 gt models did get the electronic valved exhaust that opens up when in sport mode, so if you still have the augmented audio turned on, some of it is that and the other is the actual exhaust. this is supposedly where the 3 hp on 2022 models came from vs pre facelift.

Maybe it’s coming from the air intake box. I hate fake sounds. It sounds you’re going fast inside but outside your car sounds like a Prius speeding.

It's the valved exhaust. Mine didn't work from the factory (in sport mode) due to a software update issue. They updated the computer software and the valves actuate now and the difference is huge.

It's basically the same thing when you turn it on first thing. The valves open and it roars to life then quickly close again. When using auto start/stop they are closed so you can barely hear it start.
