Quick question about wheel/tire sizing. I purchased a set of offset summer wheels and tires awhile back from tire rack and they automatically selected an appropriate pairing for the wheels and tires based on vehicle selection. It seems like the front wheels are a bit too wide. Thoughts? First pic is front and second is rear.

At least those tires are fresh. Late november 2021.

Well, that's a look. Some people don't like it, but I think that is an interesting spoke pattern, the reverse of going for dished. How wide is the wheel and what tire size is that? It definitely looks more stretched than my 225 on 8.5" wide.

Wheels are 19x8.5. Front tires are 225/40R/19 and rear are 255/35R/19

It's called a staggered set up or arrangement. Generally the wheel difference is 1" front/rear. Why didn't they sell you appropriate sized wheels?

Ah yes, staggered not offset. Thanks for the correction. I emailed months ago asking the guy who did the order and he said that they are considered within the tolerances. His exact response is below:

Hello,

Fear not, those tires have a range of 7.50” to 9.00”. Your wheels are 8.50” wide, so while it may look beyond its limit, they are still well within their tolerance.

Yes, but there's more to it than just fitment. Handling is important too.

Did the car come with square or staggered tires?

I would use the same wheel specs as the 19" staggered then. For my MY 2022 owner's manual.

Maybe. The other question is, can you run a staggered set up on a car designed for square? I mean sure you can do what ever you want, but how will handling be affected, especially in turns. I don't know.

That is, is wheel seating surface to wheel seating surface distance (left to right on the front and rear) the same in either scenario?

We'll need some tire/wheel experts to chime on. I never researched this as I have no design to go staggered. The last car was and it was a pain with inability to rotate tires front/rear.

This car came with 18x8" wheels. The 245/40/18's fit just fine, I may go up to 245/45/18 next time just to get a bit more sidewall cushion. No desire for 19" as tires cost more and ride is harsher. Roads are crap here. I already slow way down for all railroad crossings.

Close. I ordered offset so rear are wider (255/35R) while front is 225/40R. Guy said I’d be fine with keeping the wheels the same width despite the offset tire width.
As @JSolo said, staggered should be wider in the back: that's how the Stinger was designed. Wider wheels with OEM tires will stretch the sidewalls a bit, which improves handling in the twisty bits (but negatively affects off the line if that is a thing with you). I prefer cornering/handling to raw 0-60 times. My rear aftermarket wheels are 9.5.

I have 8.5 and 245/40 19 on the front, no issues. Are there problems with the wheel width, rubbing?

^^Car originally came with square setup. Lets say I install staggered, will I have exaggerated tire stick out in the rear because of the wider wheel? My understanding cars set up for staggered take this into account.
