Sorry, this is a bit long...

I have a 2019 GT Limited AWD. Daily driver, put on about 35,000 kms (22,000 miles) a year.

I have the oem rims and tires and a set of winter rims and tires. Those are 18x8 21lbs or so.

I love the winter rims in black, and was trying to figure out between between painting the oem rims or not. Or maybe selling the oem set and getting something else.

With my high mileage i imagine it would be cheaper tire wise to get the same size rims/tires on all four corners. Then i can rotate them.

But, i also want to do some 1/8 mile drags at our local dragstrip. I don't want to have 3 sets of rims!
For 1/8 mile (or 1/4) does 18/19 size make much of a difference?
How about offset or not?

My preference i think would be to get a new set of black 19" rims, squared. Sell the OEM rims. Keep the winter rims and tires i have.

No, the one inch of rim will not make any appreciable difference. The benefit is in the weight. Also, for drag racing, you want sidewall flex. That generally means a taller tire, so technically an 18" rim has an advantage. Granted, you aren't making enough power to push the limits of high end street tires designed for mild track use. If you were, then certainly you'd want slicks. Another factor is contact patch. 18x8 is okay for the street, but if you can get a wider tire, you'll have less traction issues. Caution tough...that also can mean more weight. So it's a balancing act. Remember: not all tires in a certain size weigh the same.

Sounds like your top priority is travel, not racing. Squared will definitely give you longer tire wear. 18" or 19" wheels produces a slightly different look; with 18" (same OD) being a softer ride. It sounds like you're into straight line performance and not optimized cornering/handling. So the taller sidewall, smaller wheel, makes more sense. Wider tires look better and will wear longer. You could run any 9.5" tread in the rear (wider yet); but to get that to clear in front you'll probably need a hefty offset or spacers.

If this were my project, I'd be using my professional tire and wheel guys. But that's because I am not a car guy, therefore I'm not intent on learning all of this fitment stuff for myself, on my own, etc.

Focus on weight for drag/summer. Sell the oem’s.

there are plenty of discussion on here about 18/19 at the track and what tires.

Thanks guys, my tire shop is also getting some info/pricing for me.

But i am leaning towards selling OEM. Getting some new 19" rims, squared. Will use those this year for the 1/8 (if it opens up).
