Hello , Nice to meet you.

I am a Korean.

I have thought about stinger price.

Cause many people difficult to find a stinger here in Korea.

Also , i heard that Kia Stinger have very low selling ratio in the US market.

So , you guys how about think stinger price?

is it still expensive ? or can afford it?

The top trim levels are expensive "for a Kia" based on the current brand identification in the U.S. market. Kia here has a good reputation for being inexpensive but excellent value cars with great warranties and J.D. Power ratings, but they are not seen as "status symbols." So spending $50K for a Kia is strange to many people.

On the other side, if you compare the Stinger, especially the GT's, with any other brand, feature for feature and performance by performance, the Stinger is a steal compared to comparable Lexus, BMW, M-B, Audi. So it depends on whether buyers can overcome previous bias and brand identity and see the car for what it really is.

It’s interesting to hear that there is also a shortage of Stingers in Korea. I had mentioned that KIA didn’t expect this car to sell as much as it is doing mainly due to many folks moving to SUV/CUV from sedans. The other thing was brand identity, this vehicle while a good performer has it’s detractors in the press as well as from those consumers that are badge snobs. In the US they seemed to have priced it higher than initially expected and the dealer network probably knows this car was going to be a limited run so they are doing their best to sell it even higher than the MSRP to make extra money off it.

I think KIA needs to get more of this car out there and do a price adjustment versus equipment and get the dealers to stop playing stupid games to get the cars sold.

Very well said! I agree with you 100%

I agree with most of this, but if you spend time waiting for your car (as I am ....grrrr) watching YouTube review videos, the Stinger is getting total respect from every professional and significant reviewer I've seen -- and that's over 20 or so. The media is on it. It is the badge jockeys who can't swallow that they've been aced.

Which engine version is most in demand in Korea? The 2.0 or 3.3?

In the US, the top trims are overpriced, imo. Given that you can get a fully loaded GT in Canada with more features for 40,000 USD, I think Kia missed an opportunity here in the states.

Even at 42-45k fully loaded in the states, I think this car would be selling a lot more. Fair or not, there’s a huge hangup about a Kia over $50k.

Ditto that!

I work at a Kia store and heard the same thing - that Kia never expected to make any money on the Stinger (they have plenty high production models), but instead made it more as a design exercise, "look what we can do", type of thing. personally, I'm okay with this. as an owner, I selfishly hope they don't make a lot of them, but I'd be happy either way...

I agree you can get a fully loaded Stinger in canada for almost 10k less (and not to mention the canadian version has more features).

I think at the moment, cars are generally cheaper across the board in Canada (probably due to the weak canadian dollar).

I was in the market for an SUV for my wife last year. I was looking at a ford edge. The canadian cost was almost 7k less than the US version for a fully loaded. (I know this because my relative works for a ford dealership in Canada)

Top spec Gt in oz is close to $67000 drive away
You're spot on with that Drive- Away price, although some people have been lucky to get one for less.

67k AUS is 52k and change USD, so pretty similar there.

I think Kia is going to have a tough time in the US selling the Stinger against the upcoming G70, especially if the 50k max price rumors are true. I’m hoping there will be a market calibration where the Stinger prices drop a few thousand, or they start to offer attractive lease terms and/or purchase APRs to make the cost more palatable to consumers. I think the stinger is better than the G70 (assuming missing features show up), but at a glance, the G70 will look more attractive for the same money.

I'd be "OK" paying MSRP for a GT2, but I'm comparing to similar BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus models (that I was looking at when I heard about the Stinger.) The way they've limited option combinations, I'm seriously thinking I'll just wait and see what the G70 offers, especially given the service/repair service you get. Yeah, I know it's not in the same category but it might meet my needs, and I despise dealing with dealer service departments, just take it away and make it right..

I think the top trims are expensive because 1) they removed features from the US version; 2) the KIA brand, while improving, makes people nervous about dropping 50k for one. I'm going to buy a 2.0 Premium and I think it's a little expensive. Early on there were talks of it being around 29K MSRP for the Base, which I thought was still a little high for what you get. Then it came out at around 32k. Not to mention, other North American markets had better pricing. So yes, I think it is overpriced.

100% agree here! In my opinion, KIA should have made a gradual increase in the pricing of the stinger over time as many companies do. Anyone I have talked to or have seen the car love it but simply can't get over the price tag. On the other hand, if this car simply exists to change people's perspective on the KIA brand then it may not be on the top of their priority list to sell them in large numbers. Maybe that was their plan all along.

The Stinger is fairly priced for what it is and for the technology it carries. Canadian dollar is different from the U.S. and the U.S. has totally different import tariffs on durable goods. Apples and oranges.

I shopped quite a bit for a performance family car and feel the stinger nails it and is a bargain. Can you get a better deal on a rare "sale" at one of the traditional brands? Sure. My buying window was small with a 16 year old taking over a car, so I went with the best deal I could. Still smile every time I get in it and start the engine.

Value is not the same as price.
