What's wrong with this sunroof picture?

The switch on my MY22 GT sunroof looks like it has a little side plate on each side that has come loose. They kind of hang there ... not falling out but just rattling around. You can kind of push them back up and then back in towards the centre - and they sort of grab ... until the next time you use the sunroof and they come loose again. Is this normal? Some kind of strange packer that is mean to be removed? Or is it a faulty switch?

Appreciate any feedback - or photos of how this picture should look.

Picture of when it is temporarily pushed back in (well - most of the way back in)

Jbweld will make it whole. Use a tooth pick to apply.

Looks faulty, leave it alone & take it back to your dealer for assessment/replacement under warranty.

Thanks guys. I assume that yours all have those little chrome side pieces ... but attached?

I’ve had my Stinger since Nov. 2017, just took this picture for comparison.

Never noticed the trim before as I have interior lights turned off. Fortunate as I went to check as it seems I forgot to lock it up this afternoon

Much appreciated. I can 100% see how it should be now. If this is my biggest problem for the moment - I consider myself very lucky. It is really just a minor thing to add to the list for the next service.

I regret not getting a sunroof...

Why? It's lighter without it. TBH I wish mine came without it. Actually seems rare to find a Stinger without the sunroof, all the ones I've seen in person have it.

But you got more headroom and no creaking sounds

Lack of sunroof was a selling point in my purchase ;).
Ditto (see my other recent post about this in another thread).

Just checked my sunroof switch: it's wiggly but the silver sides are secure. If either of them were separating, I'd just use super glue. No way I'd take this in to get a new switch for something that is cosmetic: as already said, who knows what else they'd manage to mess up?

The sad reality of having to deal with not the greatest dealer network.

Even a good one: why risk any handling of your car if you don't have to? People screw up, and the more often that you go in, the higher the odds that it will be your turn.

True, there is a reason why I do most of my own work on vehicles...or most everything really.
