I've been to a handful of kia dealerships over the past year in & around Vancouver to scope out the car and get a feel for the dealerships, and in all but one I was dealing with salesmen that had only been there mere months if not weeks.
Is this typical for dealerships in general, or is something about the kia lots chewing them up and spitting them out?

Car dealerships have high turnover in Sales in general. There are some who are successful and stay at a dealership but in the distinct minority.

That's how the dealership industry is, especially in sales.

Like any commission based job turn over is caused by lack of money. Some sales people can make six figures in a year while others barely scrape minimum wage.

I should've followed up with "What were you doing before this?". It's just disappointing when the guy showing you the car doesn't know anything about it, or the details of the up-sell options they're pushing.

Yep, and it's these salespeople who don't succeed.

You have to study your product. Best way to sell other than natural charisma is being able to explain in depth why your product is good.
