Test drove a GT2 yesterday. I really liked the way it drives but I don't like red. Got home and started looking around at other colors in Houston area. There are ~10 dealers within 100 miles of my house. I searched every one of them and and seemingly 80% of the GT2 are red. Of the remaining 20%, most are black. I like black but it's too much of a pain to keep looking good. Any idea why virtually no white/silver around?

Within 50 miles of me there are 10 white and 3 silver GT2 available..

Living in Houston, I'd assume that's because people prefer lighter colored cars?

That may be because of the heat that darker colors don't sell well in the far southern U.S. Many dealer inventories are ordered by sales managers who are bean counters but not car guys. They talk to spreadsheets, not customers.

So many black and red GT2's in the northeast too! I searched from NY to DC to locate my Ceramic. Less than 15 in total Ceramics compared to 90 Red! That's insane!

No, it's because Kia is retarded.

When I started looking back in January the only colors within 1k miles of me were red and blue. Neither of which I was willing to own. The month I bought my car 100% of all GTs within 250 miles of me were blue and 100% of all GT2s within 250 miles of me were red.

I'm sure it's a little better now but in February I couldn't even find a white GT or GT1 (the color I originally wanted) east of the Mississippi (most of them were in California).

My first time seeing a Stinger in person was in January at a dealership in Raleigh NC. There were 8 or 9 of them and all either red or blue.

Kia just really screwed up with the color/model combos upon rollout.

Joe Myers Kia on 290 had all the colors when I bought mine, but there have been issues with blue and yellow (special)
Maybe other colors are thin aswell ‍♂️

Red turns heads. Check it out again, both in sunlight and in dusk lighting. The color changes and is very attractive. Red was my first choice, but the ceramic is very interesting too.

Silky Silver was not on the dealership lot; they had to phone around to other Kia dealers and find one, which they traded for while I waited. Right now the same dealership has an assortment of Premium, GT, GT1 and GT2s in mostly Black and Red, but also some Whites and I saw one Blue and a returned Yellow. I am sure you can order any color in. You might have to wait some weeks/months but any good dealer is going to phone around and get your color.

For what its worth, don't take what you see available on the Kia website to heart. Check directly with the dealer, the website has proven to be not so accurate in multiple instances.

First ones here were black, red, blue and white. First one sold (back in December I think) by my closest dealer was black, went to test drive while he was taking delivery. Ceramics started showing up very early this year, but they don't sit around long. Don't know if I've ever seen the Silky Silver in-person.

Cars.com and Autotrader.com

In Canada most of the Stingers here seem to be white. Canada is an Asian country and the demographic does seem to prefer White and Silver colored cars regardless of make or model.

Kia obviously made a conscious decision to send a lot of red GT2 over. Here's the color distribution of GT2 listed for sale nationwide according to cars.com.

Note that white, silver, and ceramic aren't tagged consistently by dealers.

That's pretty enlightening. I guess Kia figures a large preponderance of American buyers just luuuuv RED (it's the promo book color, after all).

The Orange, Beige and "Other" are all dealership repaints, is that right? Or possibly some Stingers that have been traded back in (repossessed) after being repainted?

Dealers just dont tag colors consistently. I was curious about beige as well - it's a white one. "Orange" are yellow ones. "Other" just aren't tagged for color.

And "white" includes a bunch of "ceramic white" (i.e. ceramic gray mislabeled).

When I got my Ceramic GT1 in May the dealer told me they weren’t able to order that color any more. Maybe they’ll start shipping the other colors once the 2019’s are released.

Lazy.. I've seen dozens of examples where they were missing or incorrect.

How hard can it be, people???
