It's an indicator light that shows your lights are on. My Honda had it too.

It's in my optima and my kids Jeep as well. It is not an indicator. It is a light to light up the center console. (Cup holder area) it is not very bright on purpose as that would be annoying. But it does make a difference. Next time it's dark, out one hand down by the cup holders and then cover the light it a finger from your other hand. You will definitely notice a difference.

I don’t really feel like this light illuminates anything. My guess is that it is simply a guide to help you find the interior light switches located next to it. Although I also run my interior lights on the lowest setting, so maybe if I turned them up it might do something more obvious? I don’t know.
