Everytime I connect my Galaxy Note 8 to the USB port of my GT2, I get the following message on my phone which is shown in the first photo. I then get another message on my car as shown in the 2nd photo. Any ideas why this is happening? I have USB set to files transfer, then tried all the other settings, but still the same result.

Have you selected Android on function in phone settings for carplay? You may have iPhone selected instead.

Your phone isn't unlocked..unlock it first before connecting and see if that doesn't take care of it. It should ask you to then allow media access and select allow.

I'm out then...that was all I had.

Check your cable. I have had this issue before on a different vehicle and it ended being a faulty cable.

Cable.

Go & see your dealer for assistance/advice a tech wizard there may be able to resolve it for you.

Maybe it has to do with your current nav software version. I got the free recently updated nav sim card in the mail and remember reading it had updated the UVO Android Auto and Apple Car Play software also. Worth looking into.

Nope. Apparently I had to set the USB connection to Midi device

I found this hard to believe, but I tried it myself as a last resort, and it worked! I have a Samsung Note 5 running Android 7.0 (Verizon), and I could not get Android Auto to work. I knew it was something with my phone, because both my wife and daughter had no trouble running it with their S6's. I cannot imagine why it works with a MIDI setting (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and not MTP (Media Transfer Protocol), but it does.

Thanks Johnny!

It's not so much you need to set it to MIDI, but you need to set it to a mode that doesn't try to mount the SD Card (like MTP or PTP). Most phones default to a mode called "charge only," but that should also support USB data when connected to heatunits and car infotainment.
