for me personally it's the appearance of the car combined with it's performance. next is the ability to tune it easily. everything else is secondary to me. the luxury amenities aren't that big a deal to me. same with versatility. i don't have a big family and i don't go on vacations so i don't care about how roomy the hatch is. i'm not concerned about gas mileage because i don't think it'll be anything crazy expensive.

what is it about the stinger that makes you need it or want it?

With small exception, nearly everything about this car is dead on for me...
  • Love the looks.
  • RWD based drive train and the weight distribution & body proportions that come with it. Brembo brakes should be on par with my BMW's (which will knock your teeth out on the dashboard if you're not careful). Unlike my A6, the Stinger ought to be a proper sports car.
  • Adjustable suspension with a priority on comfort sounds ideal to me. I'm sick of "track tuned" cars that are miserable to live with on rough roads.
  • Power is plentiful and as you pointed out, tuning will hopefully be just a ECU upgrade away.
  • The utility of the hatch is pretty appealing, not so much for vacations but for "oh man, I was sure this box would fit in there." I've had a couple of rude awakenings in terms of what I can fit into the trunk of my A6, not because of overall space but just because the mouth of the trunk wasn't big enough.
  • Cost of ownership should be relatively low. Certainly much lower than any German car.
  • I miss the Harmon Kardon stereo from my BMW and I hope the Stinger's is on par with that one. F the Bose in my A6.
  • I expect the sunroof to be much more glorious than my A6.
  • I expect the seats to be better than my A6, which lacks thigh support and proper bolstering. Also hoping Kia's ventilated seats actually work, which my A6's do not.
  • I'm hoping Kia's top ranking in JDPA's initial quality means that the Stinger's interior won't have all the creeks & rattles that my A6 has.
  • The HVAC system on my A6 is terrible and requires constant fiddling to be comfortable. Kia's would almost have to be an improvement.
  • This probably isn't a huge deal, but I'm looking forward to the Android Auto & wireless phone charging.
So far, the only real complaint I have is that I would have actually preferred a slightly shorter wheelbase just to reduce the turning radius. I'm also a little concerned about how the interior and infotainment stacks up.

It appeals to me because they seem to being aiming (and achieving) these 3 things on a really high level... Sport + Performance + Luxury. All rolled into one value package (GT for me). It undeniably an underdog too.

Highlight features for me so far include..
-Twin Turbo V6.
-Staggered wheel setup (and the wheels).
-led headlights.
-fastback design.

Inside...I also expect the driving position to be spot on, the ride to be ultimately quiet and the audio system to be hifi.

Good topic. Coming from an Infiniti I like the fact that's is got luxury features that are current. For example, heads up display and cooled seats. Another area is advanced safety features like lane keep assist and frontal collision mitigation. Then I like the high performance aspect. If I had to choose one thing only it would be exterior appearance. I really love the look of the Stinger GT.

- BMW 340/440i xDrive-like performance for Acura TLX SH-AWD-like pricing
- In keeping with the pricing theme, options only seen on higher end luxury cars:
  • Cooled seats (not even available on most targeted competitors: 3/4 series, Q50, etc.)
  • Heated Steering wheel
  • Power adjustable steering wheel
  • LED headlights
  • HUD
  • Nappa Leather
  • Adjustable bolsters
  • Surround-view camera
  • 720 watt, 15 speaker high-end audio system
  • Smart trunk
  • Auto hold
  • ACC with full stop
  • Electronically adjustable suspension
- Engine-oil temperature on TFT (I have OCD when it comes to warming up my car before I get on it)
- Enough legroom in the front and rear so people can actually sit behind me
- The DIT engine that allows for the highest “bang for the buck” aftermarket modification- Chip/Piggyback/Tune.
- Kia’s reliability rankings (# 1 JDP, # 5 CR, etc.)
- Pseudo-German car with Kia warranty and maintenance costs.
- Edit - Forgot the cool looking keyfob

- Lastly who doesn't want to say "Yea, it's just a Kia. Was your Dodge engineered by the guy who ran the BMW M division too?" ;) I kid.

I love how spoilt I feel driving it. To me it's a rare luxury and at this point in my life that's a welcome feeling. . I'm like a kid on Xmas morning everytime I look at her or drive her. Priceless. :D

Looks, performance, features, capped price servicing, warranty.

One car that is practical (enough space, comfortable, luxurious) which is fun (handling, acceleration, steering) to drive while being affordable (initial cost, maintenance costs, and longer warranty, cheaper and actually useful extended warranty).

The practicality with the power. The Stinger is my M5 until I can afford an M5!

Looks, utility, performance, luxury, FUN. Price too. Warranty impressed me. Quality and cost ratio is the easiest way to gauge this car's value; what you get for the money you pay. But all of that has to satisfy a core aesthetic, which gets back to the FUN factor. It hasn't diminished a jot in over five months. :)

I have to be honest , my better half said go get a car, but make it a kia......she never heard of the stinger ......and once I got wind, it was the price for the specific car that I bought which drew me in ......being pigeon holed into one make....eh, It was still the price 1st and everything else the car has 2nd....I consider myself extremely lucky so far.
