I posted this question on Redd-it earlier today, but I thought I would post it here as well. This probably duplicates some questions earlier on this thread, but since it is now almost august and a 2021 model is close to coming out, perhaps there are some better deals.

I am looking to buy a Red Kia Stinger GT or GT1 (maybe GT2 if the price is excellent ). I would like either a 2020 or a new 2019 one. I plan on paying it all down at the door (check) no financing.

Before I start shopping around what can I expect for prices on such a car (rear wheel drive or all wheel drive ). I am assuming I can compete prices against multiple dealers as there are 4 kia dealers within a 25 minute drive from me (I live in the Los Angeles area).

I’d like to keep the price under $40,000 if possible . Certainly no higher than about $44,000. I have heard some folks get a GT2 for $38K since the GT2's have not soled so well.

So, what can I expect to be able to get out the door.

You want a new 2019 HCR; heh, have you even searched to see if one is available? The rest is up to your dickering prowess/stamina versus the dealer's. In January, Doug Demuro got his "brand new" 2018 GT2 AWD (HCR, too) for "thirty seven thousand dollars and some change."

Just FYI
"I plan on paying it all down at the door (check) no financing."

Will be the worst and most expensive way to go. The lease buyout is a good option if you are savvy, you can knock $7,400 to $9,700 off the negotiated final price, and then just buy out your lease with that check in 1-2 months, (as soon as the title has settled) Lease then Buyout - Contract Explanation

Two years ago I paid 33,500 for a GT when the lease rebates were far lower, but dealers don't seem to be negotiating as hard anymore.

Even if you plan on leaving that incentive money on the table, financing at 0.0% APR 72 Months is available, stick 30k in the market or some other financial instrument and take your time to pay it off.

Lots of good details here but you should be able to spend well under the prices you quoted What did you pay for your Kia Stinger? the only limiting factor is your ability to negotiate in a savvy way before Kia incentives.

Mine stickered for 43 and change, got it for 37k including all taxes tag title etc. There were no insane lease incentives for some reason when I went to buy, so I financed through my credit union. I think I did alright, probably could have negotiated another 500-1000 off, but I felt 37 was a solid deal

Your best bet is to leverage as many dealers as possible and if you can try and find a 2019. If the price is right disregard color. I contacted 50 Kia dealers for a GT2. I finally got the deal I was looking for a 2019 Black GT2 $54k sticker for $38.5 about a month ago. Again black not my first choice but who cares for the deal. You may have a hard time finding 2019’s I was following this car since last fall and the 2019’s went fast once the 20’s came out. If you can, wait for the 21 and look for a 20. However, keep in mind if the refresh isn’t exactly a winner the 20’s will have higher demand.
Find the deal that works for you.
