Hello,

I have been looking for to purchase a 2018 Stinger GT2 or a 2019 Stinger GT1. During my hunt I found a preowned 2018 Stinger GT2 with 9000 miles and listed at $40,500. I sent the dealership an e-mail asking some questions about the history of the vehicle and why the mileage is so high, but I also wanted to get some other opinions on a fair price for this vehicle.

The 2018 Stinger GT2 was built in May 2018 and then passed between two different dealerships a few times. Basically, the car was listed for sale July 18 for 47k at Dealership A, then listed for sale on July 25 for 45k at Dealership B, then listed for sale on Sept 26 at Dealership A, and then lastly it is now listed at Dealership B again for $40,500.

I would assume this car was used for demo purposes, but would anyone be worried at the idea of purchasing this vehicle with is being marked as "preowned". Also what would estimate a fair price for this vehicle to be? I have found very little data about preowned 2018 stinger GT2's for obvious reasons.

Thank you for your help!

Well, for comparison, I bought the 2018 GT2 AWD in new condition for 43K out the door at end of September. It had 14 miles. With 9K miles, kind of think 37K or so would be about right.Do you still get the long warranty?

I hope so, I am waiting on a response from the dealership and that is one of the questions I asked.

I got my new 2018 gt2 with all available options for 45k. I asked Kia dealer what they would give me on trade for my car when it had 13000 miles. $32K! Lol! So I’d say retail you should be able to get them to $36k. Do a Kelly blue book value on car and bring it with you for car in good condition. Find some flaws in the car. If it has Michelin’s you should be able to say half life for tires are gone. Look for scratches and interior wear.

I don’t know that 9000 miles is a lot for an older 2018. My 2018 has 16000 miles.

When did you purchase your 2018 gt2?

In response to the poster above, I get the remaining life of the warranty and the dealership is saying that they have been in possession of the vehicle for the life of the car. The 9000 miles on the car came from the fact that the owner of the dealership was driving the car.

That is asking price, you can negotiate lower. It’s a used car, KBB can give you what it costs on trade and retail and you can go from there. If they put a certified warranty to get it back to 10yr/100k miles, that would also be good.

Yeah I will definitely negotiate lower, and the dealership did state that I can certify the warranty to get back to the 10yr/100k miles warranty.

Though with the car being used there are no incentives and I would assume that the special financing options would not be available on it.

Lots to think about with this.

If it was a demo it would have never been titled before and I believe you would be the first owner with the warranty running from the day you bought it 60k miles plus 9k mikes on the car, your warranty runs out at 69k miles on the car. They would sell it as a new car not used.

Be suspicious, car dealers lie......a lot.

I was in your exact situation. Wanted a Y18 Gt2 so I could get the best deal (in theory) but was also willing to entertain the 19 gt1. I suspect we both wanted the safety features like blind spot monitoring, and so on. I tried to deal for 3 months. I also kept my eye out for pre owned ones and one popped up. And funny enough, this car too passed dealerships. I saw it on a Dodge site....tried to deal...they said no but were very nice and upfront about what they paid....it disappeared, but then showed up a Toyota dealership. When I asked for the carfax I noticed it was same VIN. I went in to actually buy it......they have a new 'no haggle' and were arrogant about it and said 'wouldn't budge a dime'. Too bad for them, the car already went down $500 bucks afterwards as the trend is $500 down every 2 weeks (FYI: I watched their no haggle price drop $1500 over 6 weeks time). The car is still there if you want it. It's a white GT2 with the all the rebadging and remote start with 8400k miles for now under 37K. This weekend could be 36.5. :) . South Florida.

I did learn afterwards that the powertrain doesn't transfer to person 2, so be aware it's on the 5/60.

As for me, I ended up picking up a new (44 miles) white Gt2 Y18. Wasn't the best lease deal, but the final price was around $39k, which I am actually waiting to buy out.

Hope this gives you insight.

This was immensely helpful, thank you very much. It sounds like I am going through a very similar situation, I am looking at the 2018 gt2 or the 2019 gt1 (I live in AZ and need the ventilated seats real bad). The dealership I have been discussing with has it listed at 40k and have a no haggle policy as well. I have been talking to the dealership about the car and I feel they have been pretty arrogant about the car thus far. I will have to check out the car in south Florida, I will be there for work in 3 weeks and may have to see how far the car is from me. I am looking for the car in white and the rebadging means that I don't need to do it myself.

PM me if you want the link to the car so you can check it out, follow the pricing, and see how far it is from you. Good luck!! I can tell you this though.....once all the b.s. re purchasing is done.....what a fun car it is!!!

Probably beat the crap out of it, and I'm never sure how to react to that. We see people running 12s at the track every weekend, so the car can handle it, and it's under warranty... So does it really matter?

I'm in your exact position, just waiting on somebody to buy my ATV for some added down payment. I also love in s Florida and want the heated seats, so 18 gt2 or 19gt1 for me. I've seen the gt1s being advertised for $42k.

It would be pretty sweet too come here and work for 3 weeks and come back with a new car .

Yeah, I am seriously tempted with the 2019 gt1's listed at 42k, I am seriously tempted to look for every 2018 gt2 and offer 34k or 25k and try to get lucky with someone trying to get rid of the 2018's
