What do you love and hate about your Kia Stinger?

Probably said somewhere in this thread... but con, OEM brake pads and rotors. They just don't get the job done.
that depends on what "the job" is. For most people, they're fine

Just remembered another thing i hate-ish.

When i park, i hate it that you have to press buttons in the right order for stuff to be ok.

Shift to N
Press P
Press Start/Stop button

Now the steering wheel lock(?) engages.

If i do it in any other turn, the steering wheel will not engage and the car keeps beeping/dinging when i open the door.

Interesting. I will have to test this. I always just press P to Park and then engage the parking brake.

Have to say I don't care for the mix of shifter and buttons. One or the other, please. Or at least put the Park button ON the stick.

It is still the best car I have ever owned of roughly 40. I would warn new owners or someone considering getting one - the computer controlled things all have so many inputs, with so many conditions that many seem to have a mind of their own. It takes a while to get used to having the car tell you, "You should stop and have a cup of coffee." or while both hands are on the wheel (at 10 & 2) displaying, "Keep both hands on the wheel" or "Driver's grasp cannot be detected, Lane Keeping Assist is being disabled." Once you dig into the details of the sensors and consider the decisions being made based on the inputs they make more sense.

Consider the Autonomous Car decision problem that a programmer must deal with - Eeeewwww, we are going to have an unavoidable accident! Which vehicle should I choose to hit? MY passengers will be safer hitting the motorcycle instead of the tanker semi-truck. Tough luck motorcycle!

FYI, I don't think the car actually measures grip or detects hands, I read that it's based on driver input, like micro-corrections. If you spend too long on too straight of a road then it'll give you this warning. I think this is correct since I tested it on a road trip, I only held the bottom of the wheel with 2 fingers and almost no tension, and I made tiny micro-corrections, I never received a warning anytime I moved the wheel very slightly every 15 seconds or so.

Swap them with ceramic rotors! :D

Doing that in a couple o' weeks sir. Was able to purchase some cquence rotors from a member on board. Very excited as I'll finally be able to stop this beast correctly! :D

Not just stop well, but stop well repeatedly.

That is absolutely correct. It is one of those things where the message is misleading. The car is so stable on a straight road with decent wheel alignment no driver corrections are needed for long periods and the warning message comes up. Of course if you go by an exit ramp, where the right hand solid white line curves off to the right to take the exit, the LKA will nudge you to take the ramp and if you don't it will drift over until it gets past the ramp and then make quite a correction to get back centered in your lane - unless you nudge it back away from the ramp.

But that is my point. Until you really dig into it, the ISG, the auto-dimming headlights, the day / night dash and nav display, the vehicle blind spot warning, the LKA warning (unless your turn signal is on), the auto-reverse mirror setting which requires that the mirror adjustment be set for either side, but not the center, etc., are puzzling to brand new users and then just become part of the charm of the Stinger.

You should have seen me the first day (night) I drove my car home. So, I decided on the fly to purchase the GT2 instead of the GT1. Welp, on my test drive the GT1 had the same old parking deal on the shifter. When I "swapped" cars and did the paperwork, I got in the GT2...and started to drive home. As I looked down I didn't see the park deal on the shifter. I'm freaking out thinking how in the freak am I going to put this thing in park??!! I then pull into a parking lot and as I've got my foot on the brake I see the (P) button. I push it and looky looky, that's to put it into park. My point, don't "swap" cars for the fancy "shift by wire" if you (me) don't know how to get it into park before you leave the dealership!

Had a similar experience during test drive. Also helpful to know the parking break disengages automatically when shifting into Drive or Reverse.

"The trouble is that paint chemistry has been changed by the "Greenies" who hate all those toxic compounds that made paint of yesteryear much stronger than today's paints. We all suffer more from road rash now than years ago. "

So, you'd rather have water you can't drink and air you can't breathe and food you can't eat, but a shiny perfect car? Oh, those greenies, how dare they try and decrease pollution and make the world a better place.

Sal provided that icon just in time. :P Is that you, John? If not, you're channeling him well. Hah. Politics are verboten on this forum; it's for cars. You know, those evil things that pollute the air, the ground, the water, just about everything. Even, especially, EVs with those lithium-ion battery packs.

I hate the fact that due to the attention this car garners, I feel like I'm gonna get carjacked at every stoplight in downtown Chicago...specifically at night. Our apartment lease is up in 8 months then we are outta here...adios Illinois! Oh, but yeah...love the car

You have to be a special kind of stupid to tell someone not to make a political statement in response to your political statement. And even more stupid to mistake fresh air, water, and food for politics. Hell, far as I can tell your racism, science denial, and apparent love of coal soaked vegetables makes you the perfect politician. Maybe you should be "verboten on this forum."

Maybe you should take it up with Sal, instead of creating virtual soapboxes to rant from.

End the public argument HERE AND NOW. The next commenter concerning this current political disagreement is permabanned. Take it to direct messaging. The final statement regarding this disagreement has been made.

And don't waste my time sending me direct messages about any of this. That will also get you permanently banned.

That all being said, be nice to one another while you're here - even if you hate each other.

So I called the Kia EVO line. I provided my two cents about the UVO. I did ask if the stingers are equipped with a modem and was told no. Rep said he believes they are looking into a possible retrofit in the future. Can wait to pay more for something that should already be included at $50k plus. Sounds like they field this question a bit. So this isn’t just about turning on the feature of there is no modem (based on my limited knowledge). Oh well

Found 2 more things i like and dislike.

Like:
The back seat windows goes all the way down into the door and does not stop half way (like on volvo)

Dislike:
Must hold the up/down button to make the back seat window move.
