HI Everyone,

Just wanted to say hi and looking forward to owning my 2023 Stinger GT-Line AWD. I just traded in my 2022 Kia K5 GT-Line FWD after 1.5 years to upgrade to a stinger. My stinger is Ascot Green and only thing it doesn't have is the apex package. But I got the dealership to add in all the carbon fiber at no charge. (they really wanted to see this car, LOL).

I am in love with it after only a few days. Already have the windows tinted and looking to do other upgrades/accessories.

I do have a few questions however if anyone can answer.

1. Does the car actually have fog lights in the regular lights? or do I/can I add them?
2. I did read up on the gas(which id didn't know you needed premium) but I will stick with that. It's what's best unless I am told otherwise.
3. is there a way to permanently disable the feature when you come to a stop and depress brake fully and engine turns off. I know for the long term of the engine it's not good to have the oil pump stop pumping oil one and off causing wear on engine, unless anyone tells me differently.

I won't lie, there are a few features that my K5 had the stinger doesn't that I really enjoyed, but I am super excited to take this bad boy around town.

PS the launch mode is something else!!!

Thanks everyone!!

most of us who hate idle stop go just turn it off as the first thing we do after starting up. if you want a permanent off you have to get under the center console and jimmy the switch or mess with the wiring. I've read how it's done and am not interested no thank you. premium gas it is for me. I got in a very satisfying launch in my gt1 today, pushed me right back in my seat. I did everything right for a change. the most popular 'fog lights' are the ck71 in the brake scoops. [VENDOR][FS]: Kia Stinger - CK71 Daytime Running Lights

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! I’m glad you found us. As mentioned above, the CK71 fog lights are a great option. So are these:

…people have done both, actually…

no fogs, but there are aftermarket daytime running lights available that go where traditional fogs would be. anything is possible with fabrication and $$$, though .

you can jumper a (1k ohm?, i forget) resistor into the connector under the switch to permanently disable it. you just push the resistor legs into the back of the connector. the center console is pretty easy to remove ... do a search for the fix, there are Youtube videos on it. additionally, your battery and other components will last longer from not having to constant start/stop.

LED foglights were such an oversight for the Stinger. Something we wanted right away, way back in the day. :p

Another option (price went up though since I bought mine a couple years ago) is the memory module from Shark Racing. It actually remembers the last setting for both ISG and Auto-Hold.

Welcome!

To answer your comment here, the manual for the US recommends 91 or better octane, but 87-90 could be used in a pinch at the expense of power and fuel mileage. How much reduction? I don't know. But like others have mentioned, if you get a performance car, why handcuff it?

Plus, at our prices in the PacNW, the ~$4 difference in a fill up between 87 and 91 is a drop in the bucket when all is said and done.

My $0.02; no refunds.

Hello and welcome.

You don't say what kind of mileage you had on the k5, but curious, given how new the car was, how big of a hit did you take when trading it in? Rhetorical question, was it worth it?

Hey BigGreenCapp,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new car!

I did not realize you can have the dealership add in the carbon fiber parts!

Which parts were they able to provide and install for you in your package?

If you are ever looking for other aftermarket or OEM parts, come check us out at www.K8StingerStore.com.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you would like a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,
Daniel @ the K8 Stinger Store

i had 31,300 miles on it after year and half. i owed still 21k and they gave ne 25600 for the trade in. used ghe 4300 as a down payment.

since i bought my k5 there i had great collateral. another dealership i looked at was barely going to give me 22
