Next time lay a rolled bath towel over them in the wiper well. No matter how much snow or ice lays on your car, when you pull the towel off, everything underneath will be ice free.

That is the best kept secret I do every morning when it is freezing outside and I do not want to wait for the heater to warm up or pour warm water into the windshield.

That's okay, forgetting to lay the towel down. But don't let's either one of us drive off and forget the towel is there, and then turn on the wipers. That will end in tears.
