So I guess I should of read up on it better and not of relied on the dealer to know what they were saying when I asked if there was remote lock/unlock and remote start via an app and was told yet.

Turns out the UVO app only works when connected via USB to the car seems pretty pointless. I see zero value in it and up until last night it wouldn't even run on a Samsung Galaxy S10+

Thankfully the dealer ended up getting remote start on the car color combination I want so I at least have that, but was really interested in having the app for that stuff.

Dealer knowledge (or lack of) is a common complaint..

I'm happy with the remote start using the standard key fob. Could be better (no control of seat heat/cool) but getting AC running before entry in the summer heat will be welcome.

YA UVO is useless here in the states. Up in CA its seems really useful.

In Canada, the UVO Intelligence is integrated into our vehicle, no USB required...not sure what that's about. It also comes free for 5 years for us. I don't feel I can critique it too harshly since I "didn't pay extra" for it, but it is very slow for the app, slow communication between the app and the car and doesn't allow heated seat control. It is otherwise nice. In a location like a mall or recreation center where you normally can't communicate between a FOB and the car due to distance and obstructions, the app is very handy.

I love using the UVO app up here in Canada when my car is left at the dealer for service. I can use the find my car feature to see if my car is still in the bay being worked on from work. Also the remote start is super handy other than the fact you need to give yourself about 2 mins to actually activate it since the app is on the slow side.

The find my car is just a GPS map thing and doesn't trigger anything within the car? That's a neat feature, I haven't even tried it, and a good way to babysit lol.

I haven't used my UVO app when the car is in the dealership because I thought it would be a dick move to remote start the car when they're doing an oil change and there is no oil in the pan hahaha.

Nope shouldn't trigger anything, I do it a few times while the car is in for service just to keep track of when it enters and exits the service bay. So far the service at the dealer has been pretty solid for me. I like the guys that work the desk too.

There's a place here that just came up with their remote start here for the stinger that uses an app and can control defrosters and seats and steering wheel. I'm going to be getting that one and no charge for using the app.

What's it called?

When I saw the topic of the thread, I thought there'd be posts about how slow it can be or missing features. That really blows it doesn't work in specific countries altogether unless you plug it directly into the vehicles USB (wtf).

I have been enjoying the app, although I do desire more features. The delay it takes to turn on the vehicle isn't a big deal. From my experience; the delay is approximately 15 seconds. In the morning it takes the same time for me to walk to the front of my house and back anyway.

When I'm ready to leave work for example, I quickly pop up the app, put in the pin to start it up and put my phone back into my pocket. In about 15 seconds I'll feel the phone vibrate, or it will show the notification message on my watch the vehicle has started. Feels fancy.

The feature I'd want to add is the ability to pre-heat/cool the seats before getting in. I'd also love the UVO app become available for my smart watch (Samsung), but we all know that probably won't happen.

When I was getting my vehicle and they showed me the app, I asked them out it worked—how can I start my vehicle from "anywhere"? They said it's connected to Bell's network (Canadian cellular services, etc), and it's free for 5 years! When I asked what the fee/rate would be after, they didn't know. When I check online for full details, I get: "1. Service is free for the first five years from the day the vehicle was first registered. Monthly subscription may be applicable after the free period."

UVO is absolutely useless for me. I can't even do the initial setup via USB. every single time the app crashes on my phone (Android 8.0) when I plug into the car. Android AUto works just fine.

Hey, I just bought a 2019 sorento and the uvo app is on there... it's slow, very slow, but I can lock/unlock, start the car from anywhere in the world with data access. Using it on my Note 10+... it is 100% slow though....

And your point is?

Wait what? There is a solution for controlling HVAC and window defoggers over LTE in markets that don't get UVO intelligence/link? Which Nustart system is this, and what is involved in the installation? That and the open diff are the two deal breakers for me.

Could you by chance post screenshots and a review of it when you get the system? Does that level of control integrate with DroneMobile or another LTE solution?

The open diff can be handled very easily by swapping out the gear carrier, but emulating all the neat remote start and geofencing+speed alert features our Canadian neighbors get is far more complicated. If there is a solution, then I'll be willing to go for a 2019 Stinger in the spring instead of waiting to see what 2020 brings. :)

Not sure if you've done anything, but the Compustar series of remote starts can integrate into HVAC controls. Not sure what level of control you want, but DroneMobile can integrate 2 "auxiliary" functions that can basically be programmed by the dealer when they install. My HVAC stays on what it was set to when I shut the car off, so I just leave it on 72 auto all the time, it'll either warm up or cool down to that temp.

For me, I had Aux 1 and 2 programmed to control the seat heaters/coolers. Aux 1 will turn on both seat heaters + steering wheel heat and Aux 2 will turn on both seat coolers. It's a pretty amazing system and it's all controllable over LTE. If you get the premium DroneMobile plan that includes GPS and Geofencing as well.

If it can be integrated with the CANBUS module I will buy a 2020 this spring.

I can’t even use my UVO app because it says my iPhone is “rooted”... it used to be jailbroken but I updated it weeks ago and lost it all. :(
