Hello
Does anyone know if it is possible to install some sort of USB splitter inside the centre console. I would like to utilize the stock USB port, but have an additional one in the centre console that also connects to the head unit.

My original idea was to see if the stock port could be disconnected and installed with some drilling/cutting into the centre console. Then running a 2ndary 12v USB power source to the original stock location. Allowing me to still have a charging port and factory appearance, with the ability to have my android auto connected phone in the closed centre console.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have seen people simply sun a USB extension plugged in, and drilled into the centre console. I'm not a fan of this setup.

Thanks!

There are a couple of empty fuses that have an active 12V connection (or you can use one with a different 5A fuse on top of that), you can buy a Dashcam hardwire kit and adapt it to USB-A instead of the mini-USB they mainly come with, or if you can find one that has USB-A already and just run it into the fuse box.

Or, if you don't use wireless charging, you can buy the 2018 US-spec USB stack and swap it in, the 2018s in the US originally came with 2 USB ports instead of 1 + Qi charger

I've bought one of this:

Haven't tried two usb drives, but it works to use android auto and an USB stick simultaneously!
No need to switch the drives/cables, just select in the head unit what you want to listen to!

No idea where you are located, but the 2019 US GT2 does not support data connections to multiple USB devices on the single console USB port, or any device on the rear charge port.

That is what I also thought about it!

I have a German stinger 2018 with the software from last October.

If I have an USB stick in my car on my way home I try to catch it on a video.

I just want a cleaner look, while maintaining stock appearances.
I want to still have the current in dash charger, but a connection in the glove box for Android auto. Since when it's connected, I don't need my phone. I also don't use my phone while driving.

I may take the centre console apart in the spring and rig something up.

Any chance you could find a link to another site where I don't have to create an account to view it?

Hi Tomoffel
I ordered one of these back on Jan 26th and just received it.
It does not work on my 2018 canada GT.
It charges but does not even recognize my android phone or the usb drive (hard drive) - individually or together.
Wondering if you could take a photo of your software version - not sure if that will help me - but just a thought...
Not sure if I should re-purpose this little gadget.
Thx

I've tried 5 different ones in my Sorento and Stinger, nether vehicle supports them.

They all provide simultaneous access to a USB flash drive and a phone when plugged into a computer.

I did the same and just received it and it doesn't work as described above. I can charge my phone but under media, neither USB or Android Auto are available.
