Hello everybody,

Im purchasing some brembo calipers tomorrow for 600 and plan on replacing the rotors. Main reason for the change is all 4 rotors are warped and i thought it would be a nice cosmetic upgrade as well as increase stopping power.
I wanted to check in with some folks who have alot more knowledge of these cars before i pull the trigger. 600 Seem like a good price for calipers and havent found another dismantler who has them. I was recommended these rotors on reddit and wanted to see if anyone has used them or if there another recommendation. Car is mainly city driving with some canyons mixed in. Although those canyons are pushed very hard. The extra stopping power is for the terrible driver on the highway. Ive had to stop in the shoulder a few times but to abupt stops. So the upgrade will also add piece of mind. Im typically 2-3 car lengths back. Looking forward to any advice you guys can give me.

Edit cant post a link to the rotors. Heres the description from amazon.com to make it easy to find.

Edit 2: 2018 stinger 2.0 AWD

Thanks again for the help.

@Volfy has the four cylinder Stinger and has put Brembo brakes on it. Others on the forum have too, but I can't recall who else. Maybe he will chime in with advice. Calling @Volfy ...

I don't have personal experience with those rotors, so I cannot advise on them specifically. In general, I myself do not like cross-drilled rotors. Long time ago, they were necessary to dissipate off-gassing with old pad compounds. These days, even slotting rotors serve little purpose, other than mostly for cosmetic appeal to those who like that sort of look. Any time you introduce discontinuity on your brake rotor wearing surfaces, you create stress risers that can potentially develop stress cranks and uneven thermal gradient.

Then again, if you only drive street, your rotors likely won't really get stressed enough to see problems with cross-drilled or slotted, so knock yourself out. Just don't buy into the spiel that they add any braking performance.

As for the Brembo calipers... $600/set sounds pretty good. A lot depends on the conditions of the calipers. I did my conversion back in 2020, when most donor cars were typically still very fresh cars. Mine were practically pristine. Now, there are a lot of older high mileage Stingers and G70s, so some take-off calipers might need reconditioning. You'll have to judge them yourself.

Regardless, Brembo retrofit is one of the best performance mods you can do to your 2.0T. It was the very first mod I did to our 2.0T base model. To go fast, you need to stop fast.

That said, the retrofit is only as good as the brake pads you put in them. Pads are like tires... there is no one best for everyone and every use case. Pick one that fits how you drive and your preference.

If you need more detail on the retrofit, do a search on this forum. I've posted pics and descriptions in several threads.

Good luck.

Are there any rotors pads that you would recommend? Id like to purchase this week.

Best deal is some Stinger/G70 owner who think their OEM Brembo rotors are trash and dump them for cheap with very few miles on them.

If you need to buy new, most OE replacement vented solid rotors would do fine. Make sure to get coated centered. Makes removing the rotors later on less of a pain, which is probably only matters if you wrench on your own car.

If you want to splurge a little, get directional vented disc. Still solid surface with no cross-drill or slotted, but the interval vents are curved to move air more efficiently when rotating, which helps with cooling. You cannot see the directional vents, so zero bling-bling factor. However, performance-wise, better internal venting matters far more than racy-looking dimples and slots. So... go with whatever is more important to you.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
