Good Morning,

I have been on the forum for a few months now and have bought/sold a few items over that time. I currently have a few items listed and would like to send a direct message but unable to. I assume that is because I am a "newish" member, but is there anything I can do to gain access to this service?

Thanks,
Eric

I'm surprised to hear this. I thought that 15 posts was the threshold for total access to the forum. When you click on a member's avatar, the popup doesn't show "Start a Conversation"?

Nope. I dont see anything else. Maybe I should just just posting through the forums then.

I bet that Sal has something to say about this. :)

Just to be sure, you are clicking on the user's picture avatar? Like in the image below? You do not see the "Start a Conversation" again like in the image below? As you are a "Member" I am surprised you do not have the option.

I see. The threshold must be 20 posts, not 15 as I assumed (never mind, Sal; ).

I get 10 emails per day about this so I've made a canned response:

Hi there,

You can make direct contact with other people via "Conversations". However, if you're a new member, it takes some time to have this feature activated for your account. It's an automated process that works using various algorithms and not just your post count.

Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil as we've had too many people in the past sign up only to contact members behind the scenes with links to malicious websites. Considering this happens out of view, there's nothing we can do to prevent it - other than simply making it difficult for these people to follow through with their malicious behavior.

If you don't have the ability to start a Conversation with another member, give it some time and keep participating in the community - and it shouldn't be too long before you can...

Sincerely,

Sal C.
