Turbo Upgrades - Jonny Tig

Nice

Nice another Stinger testing hybrid turbos and hope they can break into the 10s. Wonder what ECU tune they will be using to take advantage of the extra power & boost.

Don't they offer their own ECU tune?

Glad to see Jon going the hybrid route. Looking forward to the end result. @Jonnytig

A THIRD option? Nice... I can't wait for a Stinger to break into the 10s :D

I might even consider joining the 10 sec club when/if these turbo options start panning out and go up for sale

How well do the stock internals of the 3.3 put up with extra power?

Fine so far, a lot of people pushing 450-500 WHP, one guy in Korea pushing over 600 WHP, haven't heard of a single internal failure yet.

So far in Korea, there are 3 Stingers and one G70 with over 600WHP, and numerous cars with 480+WHP.

Our engine was built with forged rods and the torque capacity of our transmission was conservatively rated by Kia to 1000nm/740ftlbs.

So we haven’t even scratched the surface of our limits yet and probably can do 700-800whp before the stock Internals are pushed too hard.

It will be interesting to see how long they last - with some forged internals and a gearbox apparently designed for 1000Nm, there's a lot of headroom left in these engines/drivetrains...

The first big turbo with 620WHP has done over 20K miles without any trouble. Don't know about others.

Coming from Ford platforms, it's surprising to see an engine with so much headroom. I'll have to look more into this.

Thanks for the info.
