Sorry, I'm used to the old MAF setup. But it does vent to intake as a diverter valve, not to atmosphere like a blow-off valve.

You’re right, it does. But it doesn’t have to. Since it’s a MAP setup it doesn’t require the air flow like a MAF. You can install a BOV and vent to atmosphere without losing any performance.
