Hi all,
This is a little of a long read, but hopefully I got all the details in…
This is my first post here, I’m new to the forum but hopefully I’m able to fix and figure out the issue I’m having.
I have a 2021 Stinger GT Limited, my engine upgrades in order of installing them are…
Ark Catback exhaust
HKS blow off valves
Injen Intakes with ADD W-1 heat shields
Mishimoto intercooler with pipes
Velossa Tech Snorkels
——noticed an issue with a “bark sound” or compressor surge at this point (on the driver’s side)——
Mishimoto Catch can
Flowmaster exhaust tips
JB4 with Bluetooth
HKS M45IL spark plugs
BMS O2 Sensor Harness Adapters (Pair)
BMS EWG Wire Set (Pair)
BMS Transmission Oil Cooler Kit

I figured the turbo surge was from my HKS blow off valve (driver side) that was seized as you can’t adjust the spring).
So I just replaced them today with the GFB Respons TMS twin valve kit T9012. With these I can do many adjustments.
I took my car out for a few quick test drives and I’m still getting the “bark” sound when I hit the throttle hard and let go…but not as bad as when I had the HKS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any suggestions on how to bear adjust the GFB BOVs for the stinger? P.S. I had also put the stock BOVs back on before the GFBs and I was still getting the “bark” sound.
Thank you!

Pretty much any time you're asking for help troubleshooting a funny sound, you should probably try to provide a video capturing the sound you're talking about.

Ok. Thank you. I’ll have to do that in the next few days. I’ll get my go pro set up. Thank you for the heads up!

Hello, here is the link of the video with the “bark” sound. Anyone know what can be causing this.

Hate to say it but nothing sounds wrong with that... its a bov so it does 'sneeze' or bark as you said when you release the throttle

Sounds like typical BOV sound when you accelerate heavy and then suddenly let up on the throttle. The BOV vents to release excessive built up boost. Otherwise you'd get turbo flutter. Stock BOV vents to the intake. Not sure how your aftermarket are venting....my guess is to atmosphere.

Those are GFB bov, I have the same ones and they are a little trumpet sounding especially with the longer horn.

Nmv, looks like there is a wrong picture in the mix.

I’ll try to make two videos. One with my BOV releasing properly and the other with the “bark”.
What is in post #4?
Is that the bark you are concerned about? Or the normal sound people pay for.

Listening to it again, it does kind of sound a little like a combination of BOV and turbo flutter because you can hear the slight whoosh/hiss from the BOV, at the same time you hear the sort of "STUTU" sound of the flutter. I'm not a pro at this stuff at all but what I would guess is that your BOV isn't allowing all of the excessive boost to be released by the BOV (the slight woosh/hiss) and the excess is flushing back through the turbo (the STUTU sound) since the throttle snaps shut but the turbos are still spinning...so yeah...technically compressor surge.

return to stock BOV and see if it's normal.

ADVICE FROM A GUY SEGMENT!

Based on the boost levels (i.e. how hard or long [giggity] you hold the throttle)
The bov can make very different sounds.

Try to get a friend or wife or girl or ect to record outside and do a few fly bys at low speed to really hear the sound and let off right before or in front of the cam position so the doplar effect wont mess it up

Yup, I just changed from stock air boxes to AFE, and every now and then the BOVs will bark. Just depends on the specific situation. Normal.

I hear stustu too with my hks, this is not normal, im sure that a part of the air still in and cause surge, and low boost my hks sound like a "wousvvveeee" I do a lot of test to see whats its wrong but dont find it... the normal sound for hks that we paid for is a steady "stuuuuuu" not stu-wowouwouuve)
