Tuner to optimize shift timing and throttle response?

Have a week old GT1 and it is a blast to drive, but having difficulty finding an optimal driving mode for daily driving. Seems to be a noticeable throttle delay and early shifting with Comfort mode opposed to Sport mode which has great throttle response but holds gears too long (try driving at 45mph between stoplights). Previously owned an Ecoboost Mustang with Cobb tuner and not only did it improve performance in HP and TQ, but it improved MPG and seemed to optimize shift points. The easy fix would be Sport mode with manual shifting, but would prefer to have a tune that made this automatic. Any ideas?
 
To my knowledge nobody has cracked the TCU, only the ECU.
I agree. It would be nice to have something in between sport and comfort. Have the throttle response of sport but not hold gears quite as long.
 
You could see if Custom drive mode helps. I haven't tried, but maybe this setting would give you what you need: Engine = sport, Transmission = comfort. In theory this should give you sharper throttle response with earlier gear shifts for economy (not holding revs).

Oh really? That must be a USA GT1 thing. I have a Canadian Stinger and have 5 selections: Engine, Transmission, Suspension, Steering and AWD.

We have Engine/Trans, Steering, Suspension, AWD, and Fake Engine Noise selections I believe. I don't think I forgot any.
 
Note, there are inline plugin products like Pedal Commander and I think one by Burger Motorsports that can adjust how the throttle input is received by the car. Those boxes would be able to adjust the throttle response portion of it.
 
I'm hoping eventually there will be a tuner that is not engineered specifically for maxing HP but overall performance and will allow for variations in between. Plugin pedal products would help the response in comfort but I think I'd still feel like the shift points were off. Sport with paddle shifters sounds about as close to I can get for now.
 

I've had the RaceChip XLR for about 1.5 months. It actually does the trick for me. I use the custom mode for the car...steering and suspension in sport mode and the transmission in comfort. I then use the "S"port setting on the XLR and it seems to work for me. My primary goal is to have the "get up and go" a little quicker and it does that with less throttle pressure. Car feels faster...though it's not in reality, but helps me when needing to move in an out of traffic and get on the highway without using sport (kick you in the ass) mode.

I kinda felt this way too in the beginning, but realized Sport mode holds gears based on specific MPH.

If you drive at 44mph it will hold the gear, but go 46mph and it will shift to a comfortable 2k rpm which is perfect for city driving. I will have to double check but believe it will shift to the next gear about every 8-12mph. I think the specific shift point mph’s I noticed were around 34, 46, 54, and 63.

Try it yourself and just pay attention to the exact mph it will shift at while cruising. Accelerate slowly in sport mode and it will push 2500rpm until a certain mph and then shift to 1800-2k.

Hope this helps, if not there are multiple throttle control options to choose from.:thumbup:
 
There is a BMS Pedal Tuner coming out that is $179 and works better than the above mentioned options. :) But no pedal tuner will change your shift points.

Awesome, yes price was steep. I'll wait for the BMS. Just stumbled across the above on YouTube and was inquiring

It's made in Germany and the design fits perfectly to the modern interior design of the Kia Stinger. The modes can be changed by an intuitive rotary switch with haptic feedback and different colored led lights behind the driving modes.

If you don't want anything on your dashboard, I recommend the version with the app. This way, the throttle tuning will be invisible while you always have the possibility to change the throttle response via the app.

If you don't like the round, compact and intuitive design and an app, I can organize you the throttle controller RaceChip used to sell a few years ago and that was copied by quite a few other companies:

Just ordered the BMS Pedal Tuner.
 
I can't comment on the BMS or RaceChip versions, but I bought the Pedal Commander Bluetooth for my 2.0T and have been driving with it for about a month. What other reviewers have said is true: it really does make the Stinger's Comfort mode feel like Sport. I usually drive with Stinger in Comfort and Pedal Commander in City mode +4, but sometimes I'll kick both of them into Sport for some fun (this comes in handy while passing other cars on the highway). Frankly, I can't even put it in Sport+ mode because it's just too much for city driving, but I bet it would be a blast at the track. I'm interested in seeing what it would do in combination with a good tune, but I'm taking baby steps.

All in all, while it was expensive, I do enjoy it. When I disable it, the car feels sluggish.
